The first thing you need to understand to understand football is how the field words. It’s your basic to everything else. Let’s break it down so that you know everything there is to know about the playing field.

End Zones: At each end of the field there is a ten yard wide area. They’re inside the end line.

The Sidelines: These are on each side of the field, and it’s a boundary line. Its six foot wide, and it runs from one end zone to the next.

End Lines: You’ll find that this is another boundary line, and once again it’s six feet wide. It connects to the parallel sidelines. These boundary lines make up the shape.

Offensive Linemen: They’re meant to block people from getting to the running backs. They do the same for the QB. There are individual positions though, such as Tackles (LT/RT), Center, and Guards (LG/RG). When the Center, they’re in the middle of the line. He brings the ball up, hiking it to the QB.
