Integrity Essay by Mr. X
Integrity is probably the most important value any person needs to have. People do not like to follow leaders, who preach one thing but do another. When talking about the working place this value is extremely essential since nobody would like to work with somebody that lacks integrity.
I have witness Soldiers in my current job which are a prime example of a Soldier who integrity level is pretty low. I had a sergeant assigned to my section which decided to go out and have some drinks with another Soldier which was new in the army and he was pretty young and inexperienced in a lot of things, the army life was new to him, after having a few drinks, neither of them were in a condition to drive, however the sergeant allowed the Soldier to drive and as result of his action the Soldier received a DUI, and eventually he end up receiving a GOMOR from a two stars general, which pretty much will put a stop to his career. However the next day when the command sergeant major interview the sergeant to find out the facts about the accident, the sergeant tried to the denied of his presence during the incident. This as you can imagine brought the moral pretty low to his platoon since the Soldier realized what kind of leader he in reality was. He had not integrity as a Soldier, as a person and as a leader, eventually he end up getting a letter of reprimand from the brigade commander and as you can imagine the Soldier did not showed any kind of respect toward his person after he tried to denied being in the car with his Soldier.
Even thou he was not the one driving the car at that particular moment, he had a responsibility to take care of his Soldier and not allow him to drive, paying a cab would have been much cheaper than paying for a DUI and putting an end to somebody career and then tried to denied of his participation in the act.

Integrity

...Final Essay * Integrity * * Integrity is a personal characteristic that should be considered as the most important characteristic of a person. A person who has strong ideas, and strong moral values, but who does not have integrity might stray in the wrong direction if they cannot support their ideas. A person with integrity will not fold under pressure and will stand to defend his views regardless of the situation. * Integrity is considered a contract with yourself. If you make a decision to support an idea or belief, that contract with yourself, integrity, will keep you on a constant and steady path to support and defend your ideal. As described by Damian Cox :“A related approach to integrity is to think of it primarily in terms of a person's holding steadfastly true to their commitments”. This commitment will present your integrity on the subject and will earn you the respect of everyone even those who oppose your views. A commitment of integrity to yourself could be the most important commitment you can make in your life. For example a commitment to quit smoking, start exercising or finish college would build your character not only towards others but most importantly towards yourself. * In today’s world there are many ways integrity can be attacked. With the development of social media, every person’s integrity is subject to scrutiny and challenge. In the same manner one can use social media outlets to demonstrate your integrity by presenting the...

Integrity

...Integrity Essay Integrity, the antonym is dishonesty and the synonym is honor. This paints a fairly clear picture within these two words. Honesty is a pure ethical principle through which a person can earn respect and honor. Respect and honor from others helps build lasting personal and business relationships, which leads to long-term success. Ethics and success are deeply linked. Ethics are the foundation on which long-term success is built. Integrity is defined as the adherence to moral and ethical principles. Integrity is, therefore, the result of strong ethics. It is a quality I strive to uphold. Since I was little, integrity was not something merely encouraged by my family, it was expected. Honesty was the only policy and responsibility was something to be demonstrated daily. My family has not only encouraged, but demanded that I grow to be an ethical young woman. I am grateful for my parents’ high standards and good example because it has laid the foundation for my success in and out of the classroom. My father was part of a committee to formulate the guiding principles of his company. They wrote this statement as a cornerstone for their business: “We will demand honesty and integrity in everything we do.” Beneath this statement they included a “Why this is important?” clause that states “By consistently doing the right thing with conviction, candor, compassion, and courage, we will earn and keep the respect of our clients and coworkers...

Academic Integrity

...Academic Integrity This is my first time to get in touch with this new phrase: Academic integrity. To be honest, Students in Czech Republic including me, seldom acquire knowledge concerning subjects like Academic Integrity; so I have to admit that I only have faint sense of Academic Integrity, which is never cheating in examinations. I think it is partly caused by European education system. When I was a kid, the only understanding of integrity is to be an honest child or do not lie to your parents and teachers. When I grow up, I clearly know that cheating is a really bad thing. Thus I think, to some extent, these two rules are more like moral integrity but academic integrity. More often than not, the average student seeks an immediate answer by going into Google and asking it a question. This passes for “research” today. The trouble with this method is that, once an obstacle is encountered, the average student declares, “I could not find any research on my subject.” Beyond the fact that the research skills are poor, the next issue is the fact that, once the student finds research, he or she does not know what to do with the information. That is, there appears to be no attempt at explaining the significance of the research, or asking substantial questions in response to it. I think integrity is important for writing in academics. Being able to submit a paper or essay with the confidence your work is completely honest is a great feeling. I feel being honest in your writing gives...

Code Of Integrity

...values above others. Widespread in nature, individuals and corporations value men of integrity. Some of my earliest memories contain my father teaching me the ways of integrity. He taught me that I should be the person who can always be trusted. He taught me how to make the right decisions, even when making the right decision angers the people I am with at the time. Integrity is the fortitude to do the right thing and fight the temptation despite the difficult circumstances. As I am with some of my close friends, they begin to discuss what acid would be like and how great of experience it would be. Within the next few minutes, I look over to see my one of them making a phone call. I end up in the back of a car as we pull out of the driveway and head to the local gas station. Once we arrive, the driver opens his door and extends his hand. I can see the inside of his palm—cash. This is a drug deal, I realize. Shocked, I begin to mentally prepare myself for trying acid. I think back to the child who always listened to his parents. I remember the promise my dad forced me to make. I promise to never try any drugs, Dad. You have nothing to worry about....

Integrity Essay

...it Mean to Have Integrity The dictionary describes integrity as being unimpaired, unadulterated, or genuine state; entire correspondence with an original condition; purity. But in layman terms, integrity means to be who you are regardless if someone is watching you or not. Being true to one’s self, values, beliefs and morals is vital on the religious viewpoint. Integrity is how we decide to live our life. In our lifetime we will be faced with decisions only we can make ourselves. Only we can decide how we live our lives, and the decision we make defines us as. Integrity is doing the right thing opposed to doing the wrong thing. Integrity builds character and helps us develop values. This is an important quality to have because most people are looking for a trust-worthy leader. Integrity starts in the home. I grew up with great parents who taught me morals and values. They taught me to love all mankind regardless of their social issue. These lessons they taught me involved trust, respect, and integrity. They told me these characteristics were good to have, when I was young I didn’t understand why they was telling me this, but now that I am a man I understand perfectly. I believe all children should be exposed to integrity at an early age to develop personal growth. I also believe integrity should be taught in the schools, because some children don’t have parents to teach them right from wrong. I bring up school because this is where your integrity is tested at the...

...Blair, Cody SSG Anderson, Tadrian Integrity 6 February 2017 How does one define integrity? Integrity is an important trait for all military to have, because how can you trust the man or woman standing next to you if you cannot trust their integrity. This is a paper explaining what the word integrity means and how it applies to everyone, even if it is not always a value followed. Reaction Paper to Integrity by Henry Cloud

...Reaction Paper 1- Integrity by Henry Cloud Niki Varveris, DPT GEB 6445- Business, Ethics and Society January 17, 2013 The book Integrity, written by Henry Cloud, while proving to be more than your typical “self-help” book as I prematurely assumed, shed a whole new light on the subject of integrity. I must admit that prior to reading this book I was confident in my understanding of the word “integrity”, doing the right thing when no one is watching. And I was most certainly self-assured that I am a person of integrity. This book, however, challenged me to not only re-evaluate the definition of integrity but also take an in-depth look at my life as it pertains to this subject. Throughout the book, I recognized that Cloud’s message was immensely applicable to both my personal and professional existence. Early in the book Dr. Cloud introduces the idea of "the wake", referring to the task we have set out to accomplish and the relationships that occur along the way. This concept wasn't entirely foreign to me as I always think about my job or task, and positively am aware of my relationships. Although, the notion of putting them together and becoming aware of their interactions is one I hadn't completely connected with, I do believe that at a subconscious level I examine how my actions impact others. My...

...Unit 8 Assignment University Name Student Name AB/140 - Introduction to Management Professor Name Date Sandwich Blitz Inc. - Integrity This paper will provide a short analysis on how the company Sandwich Blitz Inc can take a decision respecting the law and its ethical values. In this case, the company needs to make a difficult decision. The laws have been modified and the company must respect them; the company has a problem with its legal background. The government inspector has made a proposal for the unit manager, and if Sandwich Blitz provides the food for his department's holiday party the company will receive his approval. This paper analyzes how many of the eight steps toward integrity proposed by Stratford Sherman can be respected in this case. The Stanford University Encyclopedia of Philosophy (2013) states: "Integrity is one of the most important and oft-cited of virtue terms”. Though, is difficult often to distinguish between acting with integrity and acting morally. According to Sherman (2003), integrity is uniquely concerned with individual wholeness and conscience. For the company, it is a situation when the decision must respect business ethics and the moral values of the company’s managers. Sherman (2003), states eight steps toward integrity: doing what we say we will do, doing the right thing, taking responsibility, supporting our own weight, holistic thinking, respecting others, checking the mirror, and...

Leadership and Ei

...Intellectual Integrity One skill distinguishes the effective CEO: the ability to make disciplined and integrated choices. Published: May 28, 2013 / Summer 2013 / Issue 71 by A.G. Lafley and Roger Martin, w ith Jennifer Riel By the time people reach the most senior levels of a company, they are expected to have a degree of personal competence and a strong gut feel for making good executive decisions. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be considered for a top job. But how do they attain this acumen? At Procter & Gamble (P&G)— where we (A.G. Lafley and Roger Martin) served as chief executive and one of the senior advisors to the company, respectively—we developed a systematic approach to cultivating that skill among emerging and senior executives. We found that business literature contains a great deal of advice for chief executives about strategy and execution, but much less is written about how to become the kind of person who can bring the right judgment to bear on business decisions, especially when facing a disruptive environment. Thus, many CEOs develop their own form of on-the-job training, quietly honing their own heuristics for strategic thinking. That makes it difficult to tease out and develop the personal attributes that separate successful leaders from less-successful ones. In our view, leaders would do well to take a more systematic approach to developing their decisionmaking capabilities. The place to start is where we started at P&G: with intellectual integrity. In common...

Unit 8 Assignment Sandwich Blitz

...Unit 8 Assignment After reading the unit eight Sandwich Blitz scenario, as well the Eight Steps Toward Integrity article by Stratford Sherman, I learned that there are new land-use laws that require all out buildings be a minimum of six feet from the property lines. Sandwich Blitz is in violation of this policy because their enclosure that keeps the trash dumpster is five feet away from the property line; however, the government inspector who was assigned to inspect the Sandwich Blitz has informed the unit manager of that location that he would be willing to overlook this if Sandwich Blitz would cater the department's holiday party for his job. The unit manager later communicated the proposal to Dalman. In the article Eight Steps Toward Integrity, Stratford states that there are, “a combination of factors, including increased reliance on rules, imprecise use of language, and a general coarsening of attitudes about ethics, has resulted in a significant and worrisome decline in the practice of integrity by individuals and organizations alike” (Sherman, 2003, p. 44). In this statement Stratford was explaining the different reasons why there is a decline in the practice of integrity by individuals as well as businesses. With that being said he gave us eight steps business and individuals alike should follow to ensure that integrity is maintained in a business or in an individual. Alcoa's Case

...Alcoa’s Case Study 2 1. How would you classify Alcoa’s ethical climate? Which ethical criterion, as shown in figure 5.1., was used by the company: egoism (self-centered), benevolence (concern for others) or principles (integrity approach)? Or, using Professor Paine’s two distinct ethics approaches, as discussed in this chapter, was Alcoa’s approach more compliance or integrity? Alcoa since its inception had a very strong values and the people itself enforce these values, all the employees knew clearly that all the decisions should be done according to the Alcoa’s Core standards. Since my point of view the corporate culture sets the ethical work climate of the firm as principle (integrity approach) because Alcoa expected personal morality from their workers, the rules and procedures with to be followed by the organizations, and laws and professional codes were to be followed in society. I would classify Alcoa’s ethical work climate one of high standards. Using Professor Paine’s ethics studies, Alcoa’s has an integrity based approach that combines a concern for the law with an emphasis on employee responsibility for ethical conduct. Employees are told to act with integrity and conduct their business dealings in an environment of honesty and fairness. That’s why O’Neill fired the manager, because none employee could have a misperception about the company values, even though this manager had a record of increased sales and profitability. The top management commitment played...
