...ANALYTICAL PLOTS FOR ANALYSING CONING & CHANNELING IN DIFFERENT RESERVOIRS OF UPPER INDUS BASIN OF PAKISTAN Muhammad Osama Jafri (NED University), Hafiz Haleem ud Din Farooqi (NED University), Waleed Anwar Saleem (NED University) Abstract Water and gas drive mechanisms pose different problems for a petroleum engineer. The most common tribulations encountered are water and gas coning, high permeability layer breakthrough and near wellbore water channeling. In order to identify and differentiate between these tribulations different techniques can be applied. In this extended abstract, the characteristic trends of log-log plots of WOR (Water Oil Ratio) vs. Time will be analyzed for different mechanisms on the basis of proposed techniques by K.S. Chan (SPE Paper No. 30775). The derivatives of the plots show different trends for coning and channeling which makes it easier to interpret the situation. The identification of the problems will contribute to optimize water/gas coning treatments and other encountered problems. This technique has been applied on the wells of Upper Indus Basin (Potwar region) of Pakistan for the identification of coning or channeling in the wells. Introduction In a hydrocarbon reservoir, water is the most abundant fluid existing in the pores with the oil and as a separate phase in an aquifer. Broadly, the produced water can be classified as good water and bad water. Good water is the water which sweeps or displaces the oil and is produced within the economic...

...size of 365 logs being processed. However, actual data provided proved that it was a true sample size of only 362 logs, as data for logs # 30, 123, and 127 are missing from his report. He videotaped 3 operators, April, Sid, and Jim, marking the logs, how each log was broken down and the degree to which the cants were properly centered. Gene then did a comparison of what the cost was of the log in its current condition (actual value), to what would have been the correct value of the log if the cut had been accurate (potential value). This allowed him to see the potential revenue that Welco Lumber Company is losing out on their business (profit gain). Question 1: How much profit is lost on imperfect board cuts? During the processing of 362 logs, it was found that exactly half (181) or fifty percent were processed without error. The remaining 181 logs were found to have undergone some type of error in the breakdown process—excessive log breakdown, off center cant, reduced value cut. As a result, the Welco Lumber Company missed out on $735.14 in potential profit. Taking these results one step further, the potential amount of money lost on each of the 181 logs with errors was broken down into ranges of value lost as shown below. From the graph we can see the nominal value that was lost the most fell between the $1.51 to $4.50 ranges. Question 2: How does performance vary among operators? Below is a table that shows the analysis of each operator by log size, log volume, and...

...M1: Discuss the importance of keeping fault logs Fault logs are used to record the occurrence of danger and faults on a computer, these faults can then be used in the future if the problem happens again so the technician can decide the problem quickly without having to troubleshoot it again. These faults can be problems such as hardware or software errors that require a certain technique to fix this can be listed in the notes in the fault log for the technician to quickly fix the problem. Due to a number of faults that will be recorded a day it is a good idea to keep records on servers so they can be accessed from different locations such as mobile devices and desktop computer with multiple users connected at one time which means that multiple technicians can fix multiple problems simultaneously....

...Marcus Moon Mr. Marsh English Composition 6 April 2012 The Golden Grandchild “You are my favorite grandchild.” This is the phrase my grandmother often uses whenever we are alone with one another. Ever since I can remember my grandmother and I have always had a special bond with one another, mainly because she helped raise me. She has always spoiled me and treated me as if I was her “golden grandchild.” My grandmother has many special ways of showing me that I am her favorite grandchild. When I was sixteen she gave me my first car and in her dining room my pictures are framed in gold trimmed picture frames, while the other grandchildren’s pictures are framed in plain frames. It may sound ridiculous but I am 100 percent sure that I am my grandmother’s favorite grandchild. When I was sixteen years old the only thing that was on my mind was girls and getting a car. All year long I begged and pleaded my parents to buy me a car; I even started working at Pizza Hut to help my parents pay for my first car. My parents were very doubtful about me having my own car because they thought that having a car would affect my grades and that I would disregard my curfew. Constantly I promised my parents that I would not get out of hand and would remain focused. I remember once I even told them that “having a car will make me even more focus because I know if I get bad grades or come home late that you all will take the car away for me.” Luckily my parents believed me and said that...

...An Analysis of Negotiation Processes February 10, 2011 Introduction Kelly is a Canadian who holds a college degree and has spent some time in Japan as a child. She was excited to learn of an opportunity to work in this country for one year. The position of interest requires working closely with Japanese educators who are teaching English. The program provides a contract that provides specifics on salary, working hours, and benefits, to include sick days and personal holidays. Cathy travels to Japan after being accepted and discovers that she will be working with Mark, also from Canada, Andrea, and American, and Suzanne, from Great Britain. However, she is made aware of cultural differences very quickly because the Japanese people voluntarily work long hours without pay, to include working on weekends. Moreover, Mr. Higashi, the head coordinator of the program frequently insists that Kelly and her co-workers take part of Japanese cultural events and they are resentful because they feel that Mr. Higashi is trying to make them conform. In addition to the cultural conflicts, Kelly and her peers are also disliked by the Japanese workers because they believe that everyone should show dedication to their jobs by working long hours without pay. Needless to say, the foreigners do not agree and are committed to honoring what’s contained in their contracts only. Things begin to go awry when Kelly calls out sick while experiencing flu-like symptoms. Mr. Higashi responds...

...Introduction This paper will outline my finding after reading the case “Sick Leave”. The background of the case tells of four foreign exchange students working in Japan at the Board of Education. Three of the workers became sick and had to call off for two consecutive days. The workers were informed when they returned to work; they were required to return to work with a doctor’s note certifying they were in fact sick. When Kelly returned to work she gave her boss the note. Later that evening the accountant visits Kelly desk to have her sign her leave slip. The leave slip was not completed properly by the accountant; Kelly quickly noticed she was being charged vacation days instead of sick. Kelly bought this error to her supervisor Mr. Higashi’s attention and he stated it was not an error because they are doing things the Japanese way since they are in Japan. Kelly became furious because she knew what her contract stated and that she was entitled to both vacation and sick leave days. She produced a copy of the contract to her boss and he hurried to a meeting. Kelly sat at her desk and contemplated her next move. She talked to the other foreign workers and said she was going to call the company who hired them. I will give suggestions for Kelly to properly negotiate her reasons for being granted the use of her sick leave instead of being charged vacation leave. I relate my suggestions to framing and to effective communications in the workplace. I will outline the...

...RECIPROCAL ARCHITECTURE Reciprocal frames comprise a family of structural systems characterized by the interdependent relations of their constituent parts. The term “reciprocal frame” was coined by the English designer and builder Graham Brown in order to describe a structural paradigm that had, until that time, been without a name. Reciprocal frame building types have a long, though somewhat obscure history, having been developed seemingly in parallel by different cultures in response to the constraints of available materials, but for the most part abandoned following the introduction of modern structural typologies and increased availability of building materials through trade and the development of better transportation technologies. As our global resources are subjected to greater pressure, there has been renewed interest in architectural forms that are highly flexible to available materials. Reciprocal frame systems are efficient in their use of small pieces of material to span large volumes. This has beneficial implications for construction in that it makes available a material set that is otherwise unsuitable for architectural applications. Hardwoods and lower-quality softwoods that cannot be used in other framing schemes are ideally suited to RF morphology (Thonnisen & Werenfels 2011). This is perhaps one reason that we have seen a surge in the popularity of reciprocal frames as a research topic over the past two decades. Another probable factor is the development...

...Basic Building instructions-For the main support my husband used 4- 1"x2" boards appx 6' high (we found it was surprisingly cheaper to buy the ones that where already primed white), he then took more of the same 1"x2" boards and cut them down to a 24" length for the frame- he built 3 square frames one for the top middle and base (so he used 12- 24" pieces) then attaching the 4- 6' pieces to the 3 square frames. For the back of the unit we attached a large sheet of Masonite that was already primed white cutting it to the appropriate size. For the bars we ordered a 100' roll of black bungee and cut them down to size, screwing them onto the frame (top, middle and bottom). Then for the final touch he took some nice base board molding and attached it to the outside of the frame. For the plaque i took a sheet of wood that was 24" wide, picking one that looked long enough to decorate, had my husband cut the sides to match the molding that he used so it would line up correctly, then i painted it white to match, adding her painted name and glued on some embellishments (zoo animals). I got these at the craft stores or walmart. He then attached it and we filled it was stuffed animals....(NOTE: he found screwing the boards together was much sturdier then nailing or pinning it) (also we choose to leave it with no floor) Additional Notes: the cord we used was 1/4" x 100 FT. Shock Cord or Bungee cord...the back is just one solid sheet of primed masonite, it looks like the back of a cabinet...

...In video coding mainly there are three types of frames namely: intra-coded frame (I frame),predictive coded frame(P frame) and bidirectional predictive–coded frame(B frame).Frames which are coded without any reference to past frames are known as I frames or key frames. P frames are determined based on prior I frame or P frame and cannot be built if the decoder has not decoded the previous frame. I frames and P frames are known as anchor frames. B frames are predicted from the past and future I frame or P frame. Depending on the H.264 profile, different types of frames such as I-frames, P-frames and B-frames, maybe used by an encoder. An I-frame, or intra frame, is a self-contained frame that can be independently decoded without any reference to other images....

...KROPKOWSKI What was the impact on the supply and demand of labor on one sector of the labor market? The impact on supply and demand was critical in the Luddite revolt. It all begins in 1779 when the failure of a Bill to regulate the frame-knitting industry had resulted in 300 frames being smashed and thrown into the streets. This is where the shortage of the supply begins. Then, by 1810 the Orders in Council and a change in fashion had led to deterioration in the standard of craftsmanship required in stocking making and a consequent cheapening of the trade. It was the attempt to intimidate some masters who brought in the new machines that caused Nottingham stocking knitters to smash the machines. (http://www.victorianweb.org/history/riots/luddites.html) Then the impact on the demand of Stocking knitting became predominantly a domestic industry, the stockier renting his frame from the Master and working in his own 'shop' using thread given to him by the Master; the finished items were handed back to the Master to sell. The frames were therefore scattered round the villages; this cause the demand to increase it then became easy for the Luddites to smash a frame and then disappear. Between March 1811 and February 1812 the supply of frames had been affected. About a thousand machines at the cost of between 6,000 and 10,000 were smashed. This had a damaging impact on the supply and demand (http://www.victorianweb.org/history/riots/luddites.html) Explain the factors that...
