...only 55 minutes per class period, teachers aren’t always able to meet their standards to teach the whole lesson in the time given. This causes students to have an increased amount of homework handed out due to the assignments that weren’t completed during class time. Granbury High School currently has an eight-period schedule meaning students have to attend all eight of their classes every day for the entire school year. Because of the amount of classes students have within their school day, they don’t have enough time to fully grasp and understand the concept a teacher is going over in class. Students should have an extended amount of class time to solve issues such as lack of learning...

...Statistics project ABC Commercial lengths vs MTV The goal of this study was to test the hypothesis; MTV commercials are longer than ABC commercials. To do this the study was designed to be Quantitative: consist of numeric measurements and counts. Our study is measured in seconds so it was Quantitative. The level of measurement used Ratio; because in this study a zero entry is an inherent zero and not just a place on a scale. You cannot for example have -5 seconds of commercials; the lowest amount would be zero which would mean there were no commercials. The way the study was performed was Observational study: the researcher observes and measures characteristics of a part of a population but does not change existing conditions. Our study is observational because during the course of the research only observatory measurements were taken. The persons doing the study did not in any form interact with subject to change the result. The sampling technique was random sample, a sample in which every member of a population has an equal chance of being selected. The study is a random sample because the study did not test a specific time frame. There are no apparent confounding variables, however if all measurements were taken in the same timeframe, they may not show the whole picture. For example a show that has a more loyal following may be able to have longer commercials knowing the audience will still be there when it’s over. To process the data, the first thing done was the creation...

...Pursuing an online MBA program over an on-site program Shirley Ann Gates Bus 620: Managerial Marketing (MAC1042A) Professor Nancy Waldron November 16, 2010 Executive Summary of Marketing Plan In today’s world, being able to obtain an adequate amount of education will increase the chances of better opportunities in the job market. Students entering MBA programs are now given a choice to obtain their education online opposed to onsite. Both MBA online and onsite programs share a common goal, and that is to assist students in obtaining their degrees. MBA online programs are convenient, because they are available to the students, any place, anywhere, and anytime, and will allow students to be able to complete their assignments within their own timetable opposed to an onsite setting, that you must meet the timetable of the facility in order to obtain your educational needs. According to Terry (2007) “online instruction provides flexibility for students in that it reduces the often substantial transaction and opportunity cost associated with traditional campus offerings. The flexibility in structures is countered by potential problems including lack of personal interaction (Fan & Lewis, 2001), the elimination of a sense of community (James & Voight, 2001), and the perception of lower quality (Terry, 2001). On sites courses have some advantages whereas, it allows students to interact with their peers, attend lectures, and physically work in groups. There are...

...this new calendar better facilitates learning. Year-round education has the potential to bring economy, accountability, and educational efficiency to the schools. While Year-Round schooling can save money, the impact on academic achievement is uncertain (Graves, McMullen and Rouse). This type of school system impacts students, teachers, parents and the community in both positive and negative ways. The traditional school calendar has been in effect for more than a century. Students have relied on a 180-day school year with a long summer vacation. Originally, the school calendar was organized so that children would have the summer off to help their parents work on the farm. Although most communities no longer depend heavily on agriculture and children no longer carry on the responsibilities they once did, our society continues to follow the traditional school calendar. The debate surrounding YRE (Year-Round Education) generally focuses on five broad categories: professional staffing and development, administrative issues, student achievement, parental and community concerns, and cost factors (Opheim, Mohajer and Read). The term “Year-Round Education” may be misleading. It doesn’t mean that students attend school Monday through Friday all year long. As Elaine Warrick-Harris states, “perhaps a better name for the concept would be “continuous learning,” “all-seasons learning,” or even...

...In this society school is short. There should should be longer school days for many reasons. One reason is that there will be less homework. There will be less homework because after they finish their homework for the class they are in they can continue to their other work for that class or other classes. Another reason why the school day should be longer is that they could add an extra period without charge to do work in or read books. During the week kids could get so much more education because of longer school hours. Science the school day is so long they might be able to have an extra period for just homework, reading, and asking questions. Always remember better education means better lives. When school days are longer there is always...

...still a largely agrarian nation. At that time, this system was implemented because children were often needed to work in the fields during the summer. Since those reasons no longer make sense in this modern world, many people are advocating a shift away from this ‘antiquated’ nine month school year in favor of year round education. Used in most American schools, the current school calendar, designed in the late 1800’s, no longer meets the...

Although an editor has made decisions about which words or passages to delete, the article or book is presented as the work of the original author. A paraphrase differs from an abridgement in that it is written in language different from the original. It follows the order of the original text and, unlike a summary, it recasts everything, not just the main ideas. It may be shorter than the original, but it could be longer. A summary is generally much shorter than the original text. It includes only key ideas and omits the details. It may or may not follow the order of the original. Because you must decide how all of the ideas fit together,...

...variables that influence one's decision on what eduction program is best. Typically vocational programs are more affordable, and offer accelerated classes, and some even offer job placement opportunities after completion. However by attending these schools, there are some negative aspects such as the rarity to transfer any credits to an accredited school, the limitation of only a narrow skill set, and narrowing opportunities for career advancement. The first positive aspect of vocational training is the cost. The lower price to attend such a program maybe the best, if not the only option for people who need to acquire job training. Another positive is the shorter lengths of classes make it an attractive option to many people who do not want to commit to a four year degree. Some vocational training programs are only a few months long allowing quick completion and allowing graduates to search for jobs quickly. The flexibility of some of these programs also appeal to people that need to schedule around family and current employment. One negative aspect of vocational training or specialized schools is that it may hinder any kind of new job opportunities, promotions into better positions, or into any kind of management role. It may also stunt wage increases due to a limited skill set. Even though it is more expensive and takes longer to complete it is still considered by many to be better than any kind of vocational training. Vocational training also limits your options if you...

Nobody would want to have students not succeed in school by having their brains crammed with academic information when their barely awake in their classes would they? Some students don’t learn as fast, so by changing the schedule, they can wipe of the thought of not being good enough of their mind. ...The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board should accept the proposal to make the school calendar year-round due to the mental health, grades and breaks. Firstly, I feel as if the proposal to turn our board into year-round schooling due to the mental health of students. If breaks are more frequent, students would feel less overwhelmed about forgetting things that were taught and there would be less worry due to shorter waits for breaks. It is also preparing the students for high school, if in elementary school right now, with the feel of semesters. The frequent breaks would free up time for relaxing and extra curricular activities. There would be less stress about missing lessons, tests and presentations due to tournaments since no classes would be missed during that time. Also, the excitement for breaks would help relax and preserve their mental state due to less stress. It would also give high school students, in our board, a chance to get part-time jobs during the breaks to already start saving. This would help reduce stress for them in the future. Therefore, accepting the proposal for year-round schooling would be very beneficial...

The ASC 330-10-30-10 said that “The cost to be matched against revenue from a sale may not be the identified cost of the specific item which is sold, especially in cases in which similar goods are purchased at different times and at different prices.” The ASC 330-10-30-9 said that “Cost for inventory purposes may be determined under any one of several assumptions as to the flow of cost factors, FIFO, average, and last-in first-out LIFO.” Under this code said the company should choose one of the methods to record their inventory cost, lower of cost or market is an adjustments for their inventories. The ASC 330-10-35-1/2 said that company should adjust their inventory cost when the utility of the goods is no longer as great as their cost, the loss should charge against the revenue. The ASC 330-10-50-1 told us that “The basis of stating inventories shall be consistently applied and shall be disclosed in the financial statements; whenever a significant change is made therein, there shall be disclosure of the nature of the change and, if material, the effect on income.” The Our advice: WAG should record their inventories’ basic cost and show a change about the adjustment, this adjustment should charge from the revenue. Also, WAG should use FIFO, LIFO or Average method to record their cost of goods sold. As the revenue part mentioned, if the company should not record the revenue of the $50,000 sales, they need to deduct the related cost for the sales...

...Teachers don’t get paid much and aren’t treated with respect. In Sweden, teachers get paid as much as a lawyer or a doctor. Not just anyone can become a teacher. If someone wants to be a teacher they have to get into a program but it’s highly competitive. Only the top five to ten percent of the applicants get in, then university is two though five years to complete the degree. The Swedish and American education systems are drastically different. In America if a teacher is absent he/she will just get replaced with a substitute, while in Sweden, class would get cancelled or delayed until the teacher gets back. Unlike in America, in Sweden students don’t go to school everyday and most of them have block schedule. The Swedish school year is even shorter than the one here. Here students go to school everyday for eight hours a day, five days a week. While over there every day is different. Some days a student will have class for 2 hours, another day 4 hours, and the next day there might not me class....

...Resilience I always thought of myself as resilient, but after a day of working as a swim teacher, that word no longer seemed to describe me. I grew up playing “school” with my cousins and I taught at my church’s Sunday school. I knew that my destiny was to become a teacher, so when the opportunity to teach swim lessons sprung up I was quick to apply. After getting the job and completing training, I couldn't wait to teach my first class. Seven AM. The sound of my irritating alarm clock pierced my ears. Although I had grown to despise the deafening buzz, this time I was ecstatic to get out of bed. My toes touched the ice-cold hardwood as I craved warmth, but I still felt peppy. Today marked the first day of my new job as a swim instructor....
