Is Social Media Marketing Beneficial for Mc Donalds

...Statista)). Therefore companys need to adopt to this dramatic change in communication and have to be present on social platforms, to stay in customer contact and build relationships (Edelman, D.C. (2010), “Branding in the digital age“). This term paper deals with the question wheater social media marketing is an opportunity or threat for Mc Donalds, in particular Mc Donalds Germany. Although social media is a must-have for companys nowadays and nearly twenty thousand firms have a facebook page for their business, social media could be a threat for companys. Especially fast food restaurants are often criticised by protestants and social platforms are perfect places to make their criticism public. So businesses need to evaluate wheather social media is an opportunity or threat for their performance. My thesis statement is that social media marketing is very effective for companys as well as for Mc Donalds and possible threats do not represent a serious danger for them. Importance of social media for companys nowadays Social media marketing is a type of onlinemarketing, where companys use social media for several purposes. There are several possibilities to use social media for business useful, for example foster a good image, increase brand awareness, increase sales or offer support for customers and strengthen customer relations (Onlinemarketing-praxis.de). More than one billion people are using facebook and other social media platforms nowadays, so through social...

...Module Title: Business Ethics and Social Responsibility Question 1: Set out the main criticisms that have been levelled at the above three MNC's In the case of Nestle, it became evident that no formal research into the emerging market was carried out. No approached to local authorities or government agencies was made; who may have had great knowledge/insight into feeding practice within the region or problems/issues that Nestle may be faced with. They simply tried to implement existing 'western' aspirational marketing practice into a region that they knew nothing about. Their communications with the target market were poor & unclear which led to the misconception that formula was a good way to replace breast milk and other forms of nutrition vital to child development. The company did not play its role in educating the public as to the proper methods of using the product and indeed the danger of it's misuse, and also did not consider the different living conditions as a factor in which could lead to such misuse. Their aggressive marketing approach ignored or de-emphasized breast feeding & much of their promotional efforts were misleading in encouraging poor & illiterate mothers to bottle-feed rather than breast feed their infants. Advertising portrayed breast-feeding as primitive and inconvenient. Free gifts & samples were supplied by sales reps dressed as quasi-medical staff known as 'milk nurses'; which were viewed as 'endorsements by association'. Quality control...

An Introduction to Supply Chain Management Commerce Essay

...consultant in the early 1980s. However, the concept of a supply chain in management was of great importance long before, in the early 20th century. Supply chain management is the word coined for the effective management of all the partners and the information disseminated between them. Take an example of Dell computers, Micheal Dell cant built his business just by selling the computers to the customers, but he need to see the complex problems of the customers and solve these problems through just in time manufacturing of the product, then how to minimize the wastage in the production then to evaluate what customers are doing and how they can make their production efficiently (NYT 2010), as the manufacturer cannot sell the product at the higher prices than the competitors are selling but through effective management you can actually reduce the cost, so concisely he need to be a master of supply chain management. Before supply chain management there was effective inventory control system exist but due to some pit falls like; no supply chain metrics, inadequate definition of customer service, , organizational barriers, inaccurate delivery status data, simplistic inventory stocking policies, inefficient information systems, ignoring the impact of uncertainties, and an incomplete view of the supply chain (Teigen 1997). There is a need for another system that have all the competences to deal with all these problems, so the supply chain management is evolved which is not only efficient...

Marketing Macroenvironment

...EXECUTIVE SUMMARY "Macroenvironmental forces The larger societal forces that affect the whole microenvironment - demographic, economic, natural, technological, political and cultural forces." - Kotler et al Macroenvironmental forces need to be studied by organisations as they can both provide opportunities and pose threats. The fast-food industry is a consumer service; two organisations that operate in the fast-food industry are McDonald's and Hungry Jack's. McDonald's was chosen because it is the primary operator in this market and holds the greatest market share. Hungry Jack's was chosen because the product they offer is the most similar to McDonald's. I thought it would be interesting to compare marketing strategies of two organisations that offer a fairly similar product. McDonald's is the market leader both in Australia and throughout the world. Hungry Jack's is positioned more as a market follower. Companies use target marketing to tailor for specific markets. There are three components involved in target marketing: market segmentation, market targeting and market positioning. McDonald's primary target markets are seniors, adults and teenagers however the most heavily targeted segment is children. Hungry Jack's also essentially segment their market using demographic variables. The final step in target marketing is developing a marketing mix. These tools are also known as the four P's and in the case of services, the seven P's. They are product, price,...
