Motivational Methods
Introduction
Change never seems easy. However, motivating employees and having effective communication produces successful implementation of change. How employees were managed is a significant motivating factor. Therefore, one needs to have the necessary skills and abilities that are positively associated with success in executing change. These include coaching, communicating, involving others, motivating, rewarding, and building teams (Gilley & Maycunich, 2000). Managers who create environments where employees are motivated inspire them to work hard and perform duties to the best of their abilities. Thus, in order to lead and implement effective change in our department we are going to utilize three motivational techniques.
Motivational Techniques
Motivational techniques vary from person to person; however, there are some motivational methods that could be used to keep the majority of our employees motivated.
Motivation through Job Design
Job design involves “creating or defining jobs by assigning specific work tasks to individuals and groups (Lombardi and Schermerhorn, 2007). When job design is done appropriately it can contribute to job performance and job satisfaction (Lombardi and Schermerhorn, 2007). When employees have a sense of job satisfaction they in turn become motivated.
Job performance and job satisfaction go together and one without the other is insufficient to meet the high standards expected in our department (Lombardi and Schermerhorn, 2007). Therefore, in order to ensure that these factors are met, as a manager I will have to consider things such as pay, tasks, supervision, co-workers, work setting, and advancement opportunities (Lombardi and Schermerhorn, 2007).
Furthermore, by designing jobs that are appropriate for our employees’ skills and career goals we will motivate them in a relatively inexpensive way. As a

If we fail to look through different lenses and learn from what we see, important details will be unaccounted for.
