Strengths Quest Reflection
After completing the strengths quest assessment, I learned that my five signature themes consist of: individualization, harmony, relator, empathy, and consistency. This test helped me realize my strengths and weaknesses. In the Signature Themes Report, the individualization theme states that I can draw out the best in a person, which is correct. I always give people the benefit of doubt, or I always try to at least. It also says that this characteristic helps me build productive teams. I pick out who I feel would be best suited to build the strongest team. The second theme that this test chose for me was harmony. It said in the first sentence that if there is little to be gained from conflict then I hold it to a

Leadership

...Technical University Professor: Gigi Smith   I have been notified by my VP about the changes to EEST/Quest, and having studied the many leadership styles. The task at hand now is to ensure a smooth transition of the merger of the two companies. In this paper I will describe my own leadership style, my strengths, how I will apply them to the challenges I face, and talk about changes to my style in order to be successful. If I had to describe my own leadership style I would lean towards saying that I use the democratic style most often. I often try to involve my employees in the decision making process and solicit their advice on issues. I believe this informs employees as to exactly what is going on and helps to make them feel satisfied that they are part of a solution. This encourages growth and team building. I believe that I can utilize my strength of getting a team to work together successfully will come into play in this situation since Quest is purchasing our company (EEST). The two companies, although same in size, have two different philosophies amongst the IT folks. Quest appears to have the less experienced software engineers because they do not develop their own software as “we” at EEST do, instead they use only vendor written software. Since my department is halfway through a upgrade of a outdated system that has software that is written in house, my strength in being able to make these two different entities work together will be a factor...

Life of Pi

...Pi Introduction We are all the hero of our own lives, and we are given the opportunity to make choices and decisions that ultimately affect our own personal stories. Carol Pearson, in the Hero Within says the “Heroes take journeys, confront dragons, and discover the treasure of their true selves. Although they may feel very alone during the quest, at its end their reward is a sense of community: with themselves, with other people, and with the earth.” The Life of Pi is a wonderful story about the voyage of life and learning for Piscine Molitor Patel, a boy from Southern India we come to know as Pi. Pi’s journey has many classic elements of a monomyth quest. The values and beliefs that create the framework we follow can shape our experiences and just as importantly how we perceive our experiences. As significant as Pi’s life challenges and experiences are, the real learning for those who travel with him is how he approaches them, endures them and ultimately survives them. Our belief in Pi’s authenticity is grounded in his beliefs and perceptions of life. Thesis Statement The Life of Pi is a classic study of the Monomyth Quest. Through discussion I will prove this claim by drawing from Joseph Campbell’s description of the essential elements of the “Hero’s Journey”. The story of Pi is broken into three parts and within these distinct parts there are elements of the Call to Adventure, the Initiation and The Return will be evident supporting the claim that the story follows...

He had a thoroughly spoiled childhood and all he cared about was his material needs and comfort, he never thought of anybody but himself. One night when he went to sleep he had a dream about a treasure in a kingdom far away from Ethia. He knew it contained the most valuable in life though he never got the opportunity to open it, but a terrifying monster guarded it. The next day when Edward woke up he was obsessed with the idea of the treasure, he was sure that it would be loaded with a countless amount of gold and precious jewels, so he gathered the best of his knights and by the next dawn they went of for the quest of their lives. Edward knew it was dangerous and it would be for the best to turn around, but he wanted the treasure more than anything – even if it should be with the cost of the lives of his knights. The Warcraft Iii Adventure

...before but, I am aware that it is an addictive game. I know this because my 20-year old nephew, still a third year industrial engineering student up to this day, was an excessively avid player. Two years of his college life were wasted because of his addiction with the game. He could have been graduating this year if not for the addiction. Thus, when I heard from Professor Nicart that the game has been lauded by no less than The Harvard School of Business because of its contribution in developing management skills, I was intrigued. Then, she said we have to play the game at least 30 minutes a day for the next 5 to 6 days, I was amused and thought to myself that my nephew would have a blast when he hears about this. Hence, the adventure for me began even before I would play the game. CHAPTER ONE: Acquiring The Warcraft-DOTA File I had a very busy schedule ahead of me this week. I thought that in order to have this homework done, I had to finish it as soon as possible. So, as soon as I got back home last Saturday, which was about 7:30 PM because electricity in our area only came back around that time, I immediately searched if the “Warcraft-DOTA” file was installed in our computer. It was not. I also searched the other laptops we had at home and I didn’t find one. I went online to search a downloadable program file for free but, I only found files for demo purposes. I had no plans of asking my nephew for help but, I had no other choice, I had to ask him for a copy...

Who Is Gilgamesh A Hero

...To fully answer the question depends on one’s definition of strength. In a macho, ultra masculine sense in which strength is defined as one’s ability to do as one pleases and be tough, he is definitely weaker due to his friendship, but due to the fact that he no longer wants what he wanted before. Enkidu is sent to to tame Gilgamesh’s “stormy-heart.” Before he was free to do as he pleased because he had no one to oppose him, so “neither the father’s son/ nor the wife of the noble; neither the mother’s daughter/ nor the warrior’s bride was safe” whereas now Enkidu satisfies him in a way this had not, so he stops. To many, this would seem to be a lose of power, an inability to exercise his macho-man strength, but in terms of strength of heart...

...bewilderment and outrage couldn’t be so intense if Job didn’t truly love God. He senses that in spite of appearances there is somewhere, an ultimate justice, but he doesn’t know where. He is like a nobler Othello who has been brought conclusive evidence that his wife has betrayed him:his honesty won’t allow him to disbelieve it, but his love won’t allow him to believe it. The voice is saying “What is all this foolish chatter about good and evil...about battles between a hero-God and some cosmic opponent? Don’t you understand that there is no one else in here?” David Robertson-Draws our attention to Job’s speech in chapter 9, in which Job predicts what would happen if he summoned God to a face-to-face encounter. “If it is a contest of strength, behold him”-Job. When God finally does appear, Job’s prediction comes true “So God’s rhetoric (in chapters 38-41) because Job has warned us against it, convinces us that he is a charlatan God, one who has the power and skill of God , but is a fake at the truly divine task of governing with justice and love”. Modern Readers- Will miss the comic dimension unless they are willing to accept the deeply stylized character of the events. They are, to borrow Mitchell’s term -...
