...THE EFFECTIVENESS OF IMPLEMENTING RULES IN DEALING WITH ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS AMONG SELECTED MNHS STUDENTS TO PREVENT TEENAGE PREGNANCY CHAPTER I THE PROBLEM: RATIONALE AND BACKGROUND Rationale In the breakthrough of modern age, people have become less disciplined and liberated. Our youth, which is supposed to be the future of our society, have become wayward into the wrong path. They are engaged in criminal activities, vices, dangerous groups and etc. Right now, one of the biggest crisis that we are facing is the increasing percentage of teenage pregnancy. In such a young age, teenagers stop going to school because of unintentionally becoming pregnant. Some may choose to continue going to school but commonly, most of them cease to go to school and choose to stay at home because of certain circumstances such as fearing the judgment of other people. From 2000 to 2010, the number of live births by teenage mothers in the Philippines rose by more than 60 percent, latest data from the National Statistics Office showed. We could somehow conclude that the number of dropouts increased in the past school years. As I cited above, we know that teenage pregnancy is becoming a threat in our academic development. That is why, I propose of implementing rules in dealing with romantic relationships among selected MNHS to prevent teenage pregnancy. I. Statement of the Problem The main problem of the study is to determine the effectiveness of implementing rules in dealing with...

...Psychology of My Love Affairs Taking this course is probably the first time that I truly discover Psychology and I found it very applicable in our daily lives. As I go through the lectures, interestingly I found that many of the concepts and theories could be used to explain my behavior in a relationship that I had, which is currently over. I would like to share with you my discoveries and thoughts in this journal. The first thing that I found applicable to my behavior in this relationship is --- Attachment. I had been in a relationship with a boy for nearly 4 years, since I was 17. I would say our relationship was an intimate one and a very strong bond was developed. There were some sorts of attachment patterns in me, but the pattern changed over time. The attachment pattern of me in the beginning stage of the relationship was probably ‘Secure’. I felt secure, safe and comfortable when he was by my side, not physically but when we would whatsapp each other a lot, knowing what each other are doing. I treat ‘knowing what he was doing’ and ‘constantly whatsapping’ as a form of ‘secure base,’ with that secure base I feel comfortable and I would ‘explore’ like hanging out with friends, doing academic stuff etc. Sometimes, like when he played basketball with friends and had to lose contacts with me for a few hours, I would feel anxious, as it was like I lost track of him. I kept looking forward for him to had his game finished and could actually find me or whatsapp me. When...

...The Views of Far Eastern University - East Asia College Students on the Effects of Boyfriend/Girlfriend Relationship in Academic Grades A Research Paper Presented to: Ms. Loida R. Soreta Submitted by: Ruth Anne Geliberte Kathleen D. Mendoza Far Eastern University - East Asia College April 12, 2011 Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION A. Background of the Study On a daily basis, college students are faced with a conflict of interest: to study or not to study. Often times these decisions are affected by outside factors that are beyond the control of the student (i.e. work, athletics, involvement in organizations). One other factor that is believed to be a major influence is the existence of a significant other. While involved in a relationship during college, one might be forced to choose either studying for school or spending time with the significant other, leaving the student with increased amounts of stress. Level of commitment to the relationship must also be taken into consideration. Many factors contribute to a student’s academic grades; the aim of this research was to know the effects of having a boyfriend/ girlfriend relationship while studying and if it affects the student’s academic grades. There are lots of different types of relationships but romantic ones have a special quality to them that sets them apart. Unlike other forms, they are created through a desire to be with an opposing sexual energy, a different flavour. Not necessarily different gender...

...could step back and analyze how effective communication helps the overall outcome of a conflict more conflicts would be resolved with positive endings. In my paper I will be writing about conflict communication between my boyfriend and me. I will be choosing three to four units from the course to help me analyze conflict within the relationship. “People in conflict pursue four general types of goals and they are: topic, relationship, identity/facework, and process (TRIP goals). Clarity of the TRIP goals gives hope for actual resolution instead of repeating patterns that feel familiar, but lead nowhere” (Hocker & Wilmot, 2014). When analyzing these goals we need to ask ourselves different questions like, what does each person want (T), who are we to each other (R), who am I in this interaction (I), and what communication will be used (P)? I can honestly say that for the most part I never looked at TRIP goals before any of our conflicts. Now that I have knowledge on them I find myself looking at them now before any conflict I enter into or encounter. I can apply the TRIP goals in my relationship to help improve our conflict communication by taking these goals into consideration before I engage in a conflict of ours. I want to make sure our relationship is still a healthy one after the conflict and thinking about these goals...

...project, I decided to go to check out a French cuisine restaurant in Sacramento. Looking up on Yelp for a 4 stars restaurant, I found a cozy one in Midtown named The Waterboy. Located in the corner of 12th Street and Capitol, The Waterboy is a mixture of French and Italian cuisine. The name didn't sound too French to me at first. But why not give it a try! This might be a perfect place for a date night with a lover. I finally checked it out last weekend. I went for a nice dinner with my boyfriend at this place. He used to learn French in high school, so he also wanted to try this place out too. It was the first time for both of us. This place is very cool. The clear glasses make me feel like eating in a patio dining than indoor dining. They actually have the real patio outside; but the time I came was 8 p.m, so no one sat outside. It is very different with what I learned from the book that by law, all French restaurants have to display their menu outside. I guess this one is more Americanized. The menu is displayed neatly in a hard cover. They even have a beverage menu separately. This is a small restaurant with a capacity about 60 persons. I didn’t feel very convenience at first because the tables are arranged a little close to each other. However, the waiter was very nice. As soon as we were seated, he offered us a nice glass of ice water. We told him that it was our first time here. So he nicely explained to us most of everything in the menu and gave us some very helpful...

...with friends, going to football games on Friday nights, going out to eat with my father on occasion and most of all spending time with the boyfriend. I was a normal sixteen year old girl, whose life was about to change. I was going to be a mother, yet I was still a child. I had to make one of the hardest decisions a person will ever have to make. What do I do with my baby? After a couple of months of dating my boyfriend at that time, we were so happy. It was Christmas break while I was visiting my mom for the holidays; my boyfriend was at his grandma’s house in Indiana. I didn’t know how to tell him that I was late getting my monthly cycle. So I decided to text him and it took him a while to text me back due to the fact that he was in shock that I might be pregnant. When school started back in January after the holidays and he came to me and asked if I was pregnant and I haven’t taken a test yet. Then it was February and I still have not received my monthly cycle and I knew that I had to be pregnant and I just kept hoping that I wasn’t because I was not ready to be a mother at such a young age. I was still in high school and wanted to go to college and be able to live in a dorm, as well as further my education. A few more weeks went by and I still not received my monthly cycle and I was beginning to get worried. When my boyfriend and I decided to tell his mom and dad that I was pregnant they didn’t say a lot a few days later his mom took me to the closest pharmacy store...

... SOCIOLOGY OF DEVIANCE TITLE: TEENAGE PREGNANCY SUBMITTED BY: BAJAO, ANNE GUILIPA LADIELOVE NAQUILA, MARITA SUBMITTED TO: MS. MAGLENTE, ORDEM MARCH 2015 Introduction Teenage pregnancy is widespread in the Philippines, especially amongst the poor. It is a story that may not be too pleasant, but one that is repeated all too often. Teen pregnancy is an obvious rising issue in our society. Teenage pregnancy is seen as the result of early sexual activeness. Teenage pregnancy is defined as a teenage girl, usually within the ages of 13-19, becoming pregnant. It is one of the most difficult issues that teenagers, their family and communities face today. Teenage pregnancy is widespread in the Philippines, especially among the poor. The Philippines is experiencing a crisis of overpopulation which have consequences on the quality of life of the Filipino people. Here in the Philippines, we believe in the saying of our national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal that “Youth is the hope of our Mother land”. In their hand lies the future generation to follow. But as we see from the situation nowadays, what we’re expecting from the youth is the contrary of the saying. Teenagers are prone to pregnancy. Almost every year there is a rapid increase on the number of pregnant youths. One of the major causes of this problem is that most of the youths nowadays grew up in broken homes. Parents either the father or mother of the youths chose...

...happened. My sister-in-law and I were the only ones at home. I screamed to her, “ Karla I think my water broke!” She ran to the restroom door and said, “Hurry lets go to the hospital.” I told her to wait until I was done taking a shower. When I got out the shower, one of my uncles was there. I walked over to my room and changed really quick. As soon as I got out of my room, we left to the hospital. On our way to the hospital I was doing my make-up in the hopes that it would make me forget about the contractions I was having. We were almost there but a train was passing by and was taking forever. When we finally managed to get to the hospital I entered thru the emergency room and I told the attendance ladies that my water had ripped. They brought me a wheel chair, took me up stairs to a room where they where going to check how apart my contractions were. I had to change to a blue gown. While I was laying in the bed, my boyfriend walked in the room. The first thing he said was, “Our baby is finally going to be born” with a big smile in his face. At 11:45 am when a nurse came to our room and toke us to the room where I was going to deliver. That room was huge, it had a tv, sofas, a baby bed, and a lot more things. Ten minutes after I got to the room, my mom walked in. When my mom got there, I felt way better because I really wanted her to be there with me. The pain was getting worse, but all I did was breath in and out. My mom was rubbing my feet, trying to make me feel better....

...She said that she does not really trust her boyfriend so when he tells her that he is going somewhere she makes him snap her a picture to make sure he was not lying about his whereabouts. I believe that she uses Snapchat for this reason because snaps are recent unlike in text messages he could send an old picture and she would never know if he just took the picture or not. Messages sent through Snapchat notifies the person if the message was received or not. It alerts you if a person viewed your message and story. Not replying to a person’s message is a huge issue for social media because people take it as disrespectful. It is much like a person not responding to your hello in public with ignoring you. As rude as this sounds, people on Snapchat are notorious for this action and could cause problems in a relationship. The problem is that a good relationship has constant contact with one another. If there is no contact between the two partners, problems will rise. The interviewee explained this to me with further details on how her boyfriend is constantly non responsive when it comes to Snapchat because he is a bit busy. This brought insecurity in the relationship and she felt that she needed to know what her boyfriend was doing whenever she contacts him. Although a simple call or text message could have solved this problem, Snapchat messaging is free under internet...

...Do you know how a little insignificant gesture can do a big change? “Insignificant Gestures” is a short story written by an author named Jo Cannon in 2007. It is a story about a young doctor who is stationed in Africa where he tells us about all the horror he experienced. At his time in Africa, he relates to his servant, Celia, a young African girl, who as the doctor shares a common love for drawing. After returning from Africa, the narrator retrained as a psychiatrist. “I never wanted to smell blood again. Or the sweet nail-varnish odour of starvation. Or any other reek of human suffering. I couldn’t bear to witness another death.”(p. 1, l. 1-3) In these lines the narrator clearly describes how all the death, sickness and hunger has torn him apart and destroyed him mentally. You can almost compare him to a war veteran who returns from war with scars in their soul. To begin with the narrator was a doctor or as described in the text, a “district health officer”(p. 1, l. 27). He is an intelligent person, which also is expressed in the phrase “district health officer, at the absurdly young age of twenty-eight”(p. 1, l. 27). The narrator has a big heart in the way he decided to keep Celia as a servant. At first he believed that having a servant was a symbol of inequality and exploitation, but after getting reminded by the hospital matron about him having lots of money, and how Celia’s family depends on her, he decides to keep her. He has always had a passion for drawing, from back...

It was the season of 2014, and the Kansas City Royals made history. As the season was coming to an end and the Royals were doing so great they peaked my interest. I wanted to know what all the hype was about. I was seeing the Royals, our hometown team, on the World News, my city on the news. Every time I watched the local news it seemed that’s all they talked about with big eyes and bright smiles it was hard not to watch and get in on the fun. The Royals did it they made the playoffs, that’s what all the hype was about. It was the first time since 1985. That was almost 30 years ago I wasn’t even thought...

Our home is 2 homes in one which are both separated, the parents live on one side and we live on the other. Once you have been use to living the city life and move to the country it can be quite an adjustment because there is not much to do in Texarkana, Tx compared to Houston. For instance, simple things for me like driving to town seem like such a chore. Since moving to the country instead of going shopping for dinner no more then a mile from home I now have to drive over fifteen miles to town. Sometimes i feel like I have wasted my entire day.
