Brain as a Target Advertisement is a tool used by companies in order to draw attention to different products, services, and events. Advertisement is used to promote sales and attract a broader audience. This marketing strategy has been applied by people and companies for hundreds of years. It wasn’t until the 18th century that advertising had started appearing more frequently in people’s everyday lives. The spike in advertising use was caused due to the technological advancements of the printing press. People would notice different advertisements for services and products which would influence their decisions and consumer habits. I have studied many topics related to marketing and psychology. Since our technology is always increasing according to Moore’s Law, our advertising methods are also becoming more and more sophisticated. The marketing method that has been on the rise for a few years now is known neuromarketing. This form of marketing is not a new discovery, although, it is now being understood and studied better as our technology increases. It revolves around the psychological response caused by the brain when consumers look at different forms of advertisements that causes pleasure, such as, food, sex, and social. Neuromarketing, more specifically, revolves around targeting dopamine. Dopamine is the neurotransmitters in our brains which is involved with our survival instincts and pleasure responses (Touhami, 1528-32). Evidently, neuromarketing is not only being used to analyze and study psychological responses to existing advertisements, but also as a tool to manipulate people’s everyday choices when it comes to products, services, and brands. Neuromarketing influences today’s consumerist habits through forms of addiction, images, and false promises which impact our culture, and consumption. People walk by different forms of advertisements every

...Tyler Tesmen THST 400 4/19/15 What Does it Mean to Have a Pornography Addiction? In almost every major city you visit, on almost every commercial break during a televised show, you see sex. Sex and its appeal has become one of the most dominating marketing tools in today’s world. Anyone can watch a simple Carl’s Jr. commercial and see for themselves. As much as many people would like to abstain from these “immoral” and “impure” marketing schemes, it is often simply too difficult to overcome. As humans, we love sex; it crosses each one of our minds on almost a daily basis. It is ingrained in our very being through our hormones and genetic makeup to desire and lust for sex. And in today’s modern culture, pornography has become the medium by which people can fulfill their sexual desires and needs with hardly any effort. In the year 1997 only about 17% of the U.S. populous had internet access, while today that number has exploded to nearly 70%. It is hard to imagine a world today without internet access, and thus without pornography. It has become such a common aspect of so many people’s lives that it is often not even regarded as morally wrong among many people. What many people fail to realize is the negative impact that pornography, when used in an improper context, can have on one’s life: both sexually and with intimacy. Pornography puts the other sex in an objectifying manner, where it is purely a physical and lustful relation, without regards to the notion that real people...

...Family Therapy published an article titled “Structural Therapy with a Couple Battling Pornography Addiction” by Jeffrey J. Ford, Jared A. Durtschi, and Darell L. Franklin. This remarkable publication addresses an issue about how the increasing availability of pornographic material is becoming detrimental to couples’ relationships. It notifies the reader that boundless addictions to pornography are affecting individuals in a relationship, and as a result, therapists are pursuing effective ways to solve this significant issue. In this article, it is mentioned that pornography causes personal distress and symptoms of withdrawal and tolerance, which, in turn, can adversely affect relationship and neurological functioning. Unfortunately, there are many instances where therapists encounter victims of pornography addiction, but due to its uncommon occurrence, importance is not given to these addictions. The effects of this addiction are often underestimated, and it is often ignored that these addictions are as severe and difficult as other types of addictions. Therefore, this article addresses the severity of pornographic addictions, in addition to introducing the implementation of a successful structural therapy for obsessive patterns of pornographic addiction. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the structural therapy, the authors present a case study of a couple battling a pornographic addiction. The subjects involved in this case study are a couple named John and Mary, who have...

Sex Addiction Research Paper

...Sex addiction has been a topic among researchers for quite some time. The validity of such a condition has been questioned because it cannot be defined simply by saying it applies to some who desires to have sexual experiences on a frequent basis. Most scientists feel the condition must be linked to an existing condition that could be affecting mental health and daily functionality because it hinders the ability to function as a normal individual. Those that suffer from the condition experience thoughts and perform acts of a sexual nature that overshadow basic interests and needs (Hyde & DeLamater, 2017). Sex addiction, also known as hypersexual disorder, would differ from those who enjoy the frequency of sex because hypersexuality refers...

Gender Differences In Pornography In The United States

...Over the past fifty years, there has been a rise in pornography usage in the United States. Pornography, which is sexually explicit videos and photographs used to elicit sexual arousal, is estimated to be a $13 billion dollar industry in the United States (Carroll et al., 2008). Pornography is more pervasive today due to technological advances. The Internet allows individuals to access pornography and pornographic content freely. Millions of websites allows users the anonymity to view and upload pornographic videos and images. Although pornography is mainly directed at men, through the seductive and submissive portrayal of women in videos, many women also view pornography. One study found that about 50% of college students watch pornography; another study found that of a sample of 506 college students, 56% of men and 35% of women viewed pornography (Carroll et al., 2008). Although pornography is defined by its use to elicit sexual arousal, individuals may watch pornography for a variety of reasons. Wolfe states that a male could spent countless of hours in front of a computer screen but the female could not offer any pleasure to get him to back away. This proved that men are extremely fascinated with internet pornography. Wolfe now proceeds to address the idea of men who have been married for decades leaving their wives to search for a “trophy wife”. The wives were discontinued due to body changes and were considered “no longer sexy.” The idea that is logic is being practiced and introduced to adolescents giving them the idea that it is normal or ok. Leisure Concepts

... Due date: 15/06/2012 11:45pm ‘Internet pornography can not be considered as leisure; discuss this statement.’ Today throughout the world, Internet pornography has grown into a major business and is constantly growing. Based on the theory of leisure, Internet pornography is accepted and considered as a form of activity, however associates of the Catholic Church are forever arguing against the Internet pornography business based on the fact that it is sinful and immoral. The main issue associated with Internet pornography is balancing individual pleasures and freedom against the various types of social harm that can eventuate. These views explore fascinating points and can be argued either way based upon personal opinion and belief. Research shows that participation in leisure has many benefits that can influence an individual’s psychological health, physical wellbeing, social health, economic health and spiritual health. Furthermore, all of these benefits contribute to the quality of life of an individual. Having a healthy spiritual life comes from living a healthy lifestyle and being emotionally stable. Being spiritually healthy may involve believing and following a specific religion to shape one’s morals. From a spiritual perspective, the Catholic Church condemns the pornography industry based on the grounds that it affects a person’s family, marriage and overall wellbeing. The body can create an addiction to pornography but yet the mind can generate negative thoughts...

It depends on how people perceive the subject depending on their information about the topic, their personal experiences, and through the things they come across in their every day encounters that are filtered through their senses, personality, attitudes and values that they have acquired from their lives in society and in their respective cultures. To better understand this discussion, background on the subject being written will be laid out. Should the First Amendment Protect Sexual Images?

...Josephine Nguyen Professor Mark Harrison English 1A 6 December 2013 Should the First Amendment Protect Sexual Images? Very few of us are strangers to pornography. Pornography is not only defined as four-letter-word and indecency but it also is an issue that has and will keep on calling upon a lot of debate. There are numerous different opinions about pornography. While many people who identify pornography as derogatory, disgraceful, and abominable, there are also a large number of people who recognize it as an attraction, a form of sexual countenance, and amusement. Pornography is sexually accurate substance, such as pictures, videos, or even writing, whose constitutional element is to cause sexual awaking. Moreover, sexually explicit material becomes more and more abundance on magazines, television, movies, and on billboards, and it can be much more accessible through the Web. After exploring the war on pornography, although there are a lot of people who stand for pornography, I still think that pornography should be censored on magazines, movies, television, and on the Internet, and there also should be limits for pornography because it’s harmful to our society. First of all, let’s talk about the differences between sexual images of consenting adults and sexual images of children. Most people consider pornography to be stirring images of consenting adults. In particular, sexual images of consenting adults are images of someone who is legally eighteen years old or...

...in regards to my paper is the repercussions of pornography in the family and how this is one of the largest challenges that face the family. This issue can cause massive strain on relationships between husband and wife as well as issues with young ones being raised in a home filled with this free drug. The first article that I have chosen to review is The Problem of Pornography: Why it’s wrong and how to help by Heath Lambert. Heath is the assistant professor of Biblical Counseling at Boyce College in Louisville Kentucky. His article starts by shining light on the depth of the depravity pornography has across all walks of life. He specifically states that pornography is a bigger issue or battle than homosexuality and adultery together. He then spends a great deal of time breaking down what is wrong with pornography from a mental, physical, relational, and spiritual aspect. He does spend time pointing the reader to scripture since his main focus is the issue in the church as well as the world as a whole. He outlines seven specific issues with pornography; lust, promiscuity, a craving for anonymity in sexual relationships, shorten relationships, shallow relationships that are free of entanglements, a desire for youth (which can lead to child porn), and the ease of passive sexual fulfillment. The second part of the article spends some time talking though how to help those struggling with pornography overcome their addiction. The author points the reader to Jesus and His finished...
