Empathy. It’s what makes us human. What separates us from all other organisms is the ability to relate to other people, and show compassion to people that we have no previous relationship with. Empathy is what we use to answer questions, talk to people, and to comprehend humanity. But what happens when we lose this ability? What happens when we fail to understand that other humans are humans too? Violence, hate, prejudice; these too are what makes us human. Humans constantly alternate between inclusive empathy and being scared of those that are different from us.
