It introduces integration between both the design and construction teams in order to have an end built product of lower costs, higher quality, shorter time and efficient design. Constructability principles could be applied to small, medium, and large scale projects. They have a significant effect on the overall project performance in terms of cost, time and quality. The purpose of constructability principles is to identify design errors, unclear design aspects, features that could be difficult to implement or very expensive. Applying constructability to construction projects has proven many advantages to the construction industry. The value added of applying constructability to construction projects was the reason for the wide spread of...

...Project Delivery at Autodesk, Inc. Project Management Leadership BUS 518 26 February, 2012 As project leader for the office building construction project, formulate a vision statement for the team project. According to Gray and Larson (2008) a vision is unlike a project scope statement, which includes: budget, end dates, and performance requirements, a vision involve the less tangible aspects of project performance. It refers to an image a project team holds in common about how the project will look upon completion, how they will work together and/or how customers will accept the project (p. 361-362). A simple level of a shared vision will answer the question, what do we want to create? Not everyone will have the same vision, but the images should be comparable. Additionally, vision comes in a variety of shapes and forms such as: in a slogan, a symbol and/or written as a formal vision statement (p.362). A vision can also inspire members to give their best effort. However, shared visions bring together experts with different skills and agendas to a mutual objective. Shared visions also help motivate members to subordinate their individual agenda and do what is normally best for the project. Finally, a shared vision for a project fosters obligations to the long term and discourages expedient responses that collectively dilute the quality of the project (Grey & Larson, 2008). Developing a vision statement is a chance for members of the organization and or project...

...How “service delivery” can be improved to a better “project management”! To discuss how service delivery can be improved to a better project management, we need to comprehend the concept of a project, project management, and service delivery. We also need to describe the state of service delivery and why it has not improved yet. Firstly, a project is a temporary effort undertaken to create a sole product or service. A project ends when its objectives have been reached or when the project has been concluded. Projects can be huge or small and involve one person or many people. They can be completed quickly or even take years to complete. Information Technology projects involve using hardware, software, or a set of connections to produce a product, service, or result. Project management on the other hand is “the application of information, talent, tools and procedures to project activities to meet project requirements.” Project managers must not strive to meet specific a range, moment in time, quality goals, and a targeted budget, they must also meet the needs and anticipations of the people drawn in or affected by project activities. Service delivery is getting people the right information at the right time, or increasing an organization’s project management development levels within a given period of time by putting measures into practice to expand services to clients. It is the grouping and administration of the people, procedures, and knowledge, which when merged into...

...Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta Feb 2005 1 of 16 ALTERNATE FORMS OF PROJECT DELIVERY 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND .1 In the building industry today, conventional methods of project delivery are being challenged by Clients, Consultants and Contractors alike, in an attempt to save time, reduce costs, avoid litigation, minimize conflict or to improve the overall building quality. .2 All methods of project delivery can be defined to be in one of the four following primary categories: .1 Traditional Method (Design - Bid - Build) .2 Construction Management .3 Design - Build .4 P3 (Public Private Partnership) .3 Within each category there are optional variations, which may be preferred by the client or may be more appropriate depending on the type of project. Each method of construction delivery has advantages and limitations, which vary according to the type and conditions of the project. .4 Across the Alberta Construction Industry, which includes Architects, Engineers, Contractors and Owners, there appears to be a lack of consistency of opinion regarding: .1 The advantages and disadvantages of each method and .2 The appropriate criteria to use when selecting a method for a particular project. 1.2 AFPD WORKSHOP .1 In March 2003 a two-day workshop was held in Edmonton on Alternate Forms of Project Delivery. .2 The Joint Board of Practice of the Alberta Association of Architects (AAA) and the Association of Professional...

...Assignment 4: Integrated Project Delivery at Autodesk, Inc. BUS 518: Project Management Leadership Strayer University, Washington DC December 1, 2011 Abstract Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) is a collaborative alliance of people, systems, business structures and practices that harness the talents and insights of all participants to optimize project results, increase value to the customer, reduce waste, and maximize efficiency through all phases of design, fabrication, and construction. Autodesk, Inc. used this approach when they built their LEED Platinum certified, award winning headquarters. The IPD approach was highly effective on this project, but it was not without its problems, especially with regard to changes in the project’s scope. The overall success of the project was due to several factors, including a clear vision for the project, identifying three types of scope changes in advance, and identifying what does not work. These topics will be explored in this paper. As project leader for the office building construction project, formulate a vision statement for the team project. Gray and Larson (2009) point out that the vision of a project is less tangible than the project scope. The vision is the image the team members hold in common about the project, such as, how will the project look when it is complete, how the team members will work together and/or how will the customers accept the project. They state that in its simplest terms, a shared vision...

...Contents Introduction 3 Service Delivery of Basic Education Curriculum Reform 4 Project management in Education Curriculum Reform 5 In Conclusion 6 Reference 7 Introduction Effective project management is the clear back bone to service delivery. Governments in the vastness of their administration requirements are often unable to maintain either everyday or random tasks of service delivery. This could be due to various reasons, such as; lack of communication, misunderstanding the chain of command, individuals or groups being appointed to complete such tasks that have insufficient knowledge and/or authority required for the fulfilment of such tasks etc. etc. Such shortfalls on tasks as vitally important to a country as service delivery can cripple Government infrastructure and create political unrest amongst unsatisfied citizens. When we are referring to ramifications of this extent, it is imperative that governments / organisations implement safety measures that cover and maintain the correct execution of service delivery. Project management is a clear and concise method that can be implemented simply and cost effectively, and integrate simply into existing infrastructure. Basically what Project Management boils down to, is a simplified process of getting the right person, with the required authority and capability to manage a need, and ensure the fulfilment of said need. So instead of having various groups, reporting to various authorities, with...

...How to Measure Customer Satisfaction Murali Chemuturi Introduction Project-based organizations place a lot of emphasis on customer satisfaction, and rightly so, as customer satisfaction is the key for improving these companies’ internal processes. A customer satisfaction rating (CSR) is often obtained through a questionnaire—the customer satisfaction survey (CSS). This method, however, suffers from the drawback of customers likely being emotionally influenced while filling out these questionnaires. Naomi Karten, an expert on the subject of customer satisfaction (www.nkarten.com), states in her seminar Tales of Whoa and the Psychology of Customer Satisfaction: “People tend to rate service higher when delivered by people they like than by people they don’t like.” Karten also goes on to describe what one can do to be “likable.” More often than not, Karten contends, the CSS rating received from the customer represents perceived feedback rather than impartial feedback. This is not to say that companies do not get any value from customer-filled CSR forms. But they must recognize that responses can be emotionally based, and that the customer is not one person, but an organization—meaning multiple people. While so, only one person represents the organization and fills out the survey. Would this person consult all concerned before filling it out? Ideally, he or she should, but often, he or she will not. This gives rise to the need for a way to compute a CSR based on internal data—data...

...that these discussions are recorded as minutes of the meetings so that the document(s) can become an integral part of Henry Nelson’s quote and eventually included in the contract agreement. With regards to each of the exceptions requested (Exhibit 2), my comments are: • Exception 1: To handle this exception, Moren should request Henry Nelson and for that matter all bidders, to include in their quote a Jobsite delivery. Although most of the companies in the US are more familiar with the UCC transportation terms, Moren should request that the latest version of Incoterms (developed by the ICC) should be used as the applicable transportation terms of the contract. By enforcing the use of Incoterms, Moren may even specify that the quoted terms should be DDP-Jobsite which would indicate Henry Nelson and all other bidders that the supplier “must” carry the responsibility and risk of delivering the equipment to the jobsite by the requested date. With this in mind, Henry Nelson and other bidders should include as part of their cost estimate the costs for using DDP-Jobsite delivery terms. This way, the sales price to Moren is inclusive of this cost. • Exception 2: From experience, depending on the application and service, materials that are subject to low temperatures may require being compliant and certified according to the standards of the NACE International Institute. In such cases where a NACE certification is deemed necessary, charpy testing is then a requirement. So, to best handle...

...John Deere and Complex Parts, Inc. 1 On Friday, November 22, 2006 Blake Roberts, Hayley Marie, Stan Eakins, and John Pearson, one of John Deere’s supplier evaluation teams, were discussing the performance of Complex Parts. They had provided questionable service to John Deere’s Moline unit over the past year, and they were wondering if this merited giving Complex Products’ business to a different supplier. They needed to recommend a course of action to their project manager next week. Company Backgrounds Deere & Company, headquartered in Moline, Illinois, was founded in 1837 and in 2007, they conducted business in over 110 countries and employed approximately 47,000 people worldwide. They are the world’s leading manufacturer of farm and forestry equipment, and also produce construction, commercial, and consumer equipment. Other products and services produced by Deere include equipment financing, power systems, special technologies, and healthcare. Net sales in 2006 were over $19 billion with total assets of more than $34 billion. Cost of goods sold in 2006 was approximately $15 billion. Complex Parts, Inc. had been a supplier of John Deere for the past 10 years with annual sales to their Moline unit of approximately $3.5 million. They supplied Deere with a key manufactured part requiring significant engineering input and testing. Two other Deere suppliers were capable of supplying this part; however, Complex Parts was providing all of Deere’s needs at the time...

...the United States. In the course of its business activities, Dhawan received an order from Pioneer Trading Company, his first and regular customer. Taking the order was a good opportunity for Harriman International since it will yield to a high amount of revenue, which will qualify the company for incentives provided by the Indian government. Moreover, The huge profit involved in the project was an opportunity for Dhawan to keep some of his workers on the payroll. However, despite all the benefits involved in this particular order, Dhawan is facing one challenge: the required deadline for the goods delivery (April 6) seems to be too short and Dhawan believes that there is a 20% chance that he will not be able to meet the stated deadline. If this happens, Dhawan will not be able to take full advantage of his initial revenue. There is a 40% chance that Pioneer will pay him 50% of the contracted price, 40% chance it would pay 30% and a 20% chance that he will only be paid 20% of the contracted price. Dhawan made a primary investment on the needed material and he believes that if he rejects the project, he will be able to sell the embroidered and unembroidered cloth for 65% and 90% of their respective cost. However, this decision will rune...

...The patient presented in case 1 experienced Implanon® failure within 29 months of placement. The pregnancy was uncomplicated and resulted in the delivery of a viable male infant at term, with no apparent anomalies or significant harm from Implanon®. In this particular case, product failure is most likely to blame. All other causes of failure, including failure to insert the product and expulsion were excluded. The patient was not simultaneously using other medications, including ones that induce hepatic enzymes, and had no pre-existing medical condition. Seeing as that the Implanon® had been in place for a total of 29 months, one could potentially argue that the efficacy of the device had decreased as the duration of implant use approached...

...Memorandum To: All Team Members From: Laketa Byrd, Project Team Leader Date: April 12, 2015 RE: Delivery issues to Canada due to paperwork with customs Team, as you know, we are having a grand opening for our new market in Canada, however, there are some issues we’re having with the shipment and delivery of items that are being delayed due to paperwork issues we’re having with customs. Since the grand opening is right around the corner, it’s imperative that all team members pull together to address these issues as soon as possible or this could cause many problems for us in this new market. It’s also just as important for the team to come up with ways that will afford us the ability to resolve these issues immediately so that we can continue to do business in this market. As the team leader, my main goal is to minimize the process of completing paperwork as much as possible as well as minimize the long amount of delivery time of our items. Since this is a new venture for us in this market, we all know how important it is for us to be able to deliver the items to our customers as scheduled and ahead of schedule, not behind schedule. With us being held up with the processing of more and more paperwork with customs, this could make it extremely different for us to thrive in this market and be able to attract new and additional customers as well as keep the ones we already have. I think in order for us to get ahead and/or resolve the issues we’re having we need to arrange a...

The personal reference usually led to numerous applicant but it also could have the adverse effect on them if a client wasn’t satisfied with the work The diagram also focus on member recruitment which is very important. The club is on a strict timeline because all projects have to be completed by the end of the year. In order for that to happen, all officers and elected officials decision had to be done and approved by October. Member’s recruitment was based on previous member experience. Where the member had a good or bad experience would affect the increase or decrease in the number of perspective member signing up. In most case, some of the members that had a negative experience with the group, not only make plans of not returning but they would encourage other not to sign up. They even would try to encourage other members to leave the organization also. Also the overall dynamics of the projects and the reason why they were failing is examined. My recommendation to OCI in regards to client acquisition is to continue with the advertising aspect of...
