This course has opened my eyes to the ever evolving world of Information Technology and its effect on the business world. If companies fail to adapt to new technologies and changing markets they will find themselves struggling to compete and survive. Just a few of these new technologies such as social networking, biometric technology, RFID, and cloud networks have completely changes the way companies operate. They have redefined and replaced older technologies and have managed to do so at a rapid pace. If companies do not set themselves up with flexibility to implement new technologies they will soon be out of business. Cloud networks have become increasingly popular due to the cost savings and effectiveness of their design. A company is able to save money by not having the overhead and staff to maintain and service their own servers. I think that this type of network will soon become a standard business model for all companies. As the security features continue to advance, the cost savings provided by the cloud will be too great to pass up. The cloud has also contributed to the rise in another type of network, the social network. The increasing popularity of social websites such as Facebook and Twitter has spawned new ways to market and advertise. The traditional forms of advertising are slowly being phased out and being replaced by more direct advertising based on the information a user provides to their social networking site. The ability to capture and use this information as well as the ability to adapt to new social network sites will be a pivotal quality in successful business in the future. Another technology that is evolving rapidly is RFID. With new RFID technologies business in the future will be able completely change their operational structure. They will be able to use a less expensive, more technologically advanced RFID system to monitor the location of their supplies and materials as well as change the interaction at the time of purchase with the customer. RFID technology has high potential to save businesses money and give them a strategic advantage against their competitors. The new developing technology that I think is going to impact business in the future is Biometrics. The current advancements and future potential advancements have the ability to completely change our daily life. In the future I believe this technology will give businesses such detailed information on a potential customer that it will redefine commerce. An example of this would be a customer walking into a store; the store has an iris scanner that scans that customer automatically pulling up a wealth of stored data. Then the store would be able to send a coupon directly to that person’s smart phone based on that individuals buying habits. The potential uses for Biometric technology is endless. As we discussed in class the Indian Government is currently use it to screen welfare recipients in order to detect and eliminate fraud. I believe the Indian Government is going to be the first of many and the United States will be using such programs in the not too distant future. These four examples are only a few of the new technologies we discussed in class but I feel they give a good indication on where society is going as a whole. The ways businesses are structured and operated are changing as fast as technology will allow. The companies who are best able to predict, prepare, and implement new technologies are going to be the ones who are the most successful. In order for these companies to predict, prepare, and implement these changes they are going to need quality people in place who understand where technology is headed and have smart ideas on how to take advantage and use them to increase business. This class has taught me that I need to be one of the people that understands the new technology and where it is headed so I can use it to grow the business of my current employer or in any new venture of my own.

...Villardy Alce Reflective Analysis Knowledge of Application 1.2 I’ve been an Adventist all my life, so I have very deep and profound spiritual knowledge, faith and beliefs which I can say is the foundation for everything I do. I think it becomes easier to care for other people when one realizes that they themselves are no better if not worse than whomever they are caring for. Caring for someone as I would for myself becomes so much easier. I didn’t mind feeding, changing, or moving people during clinicals. I took A&P 5 or 6 years ago so it’s not exactly fresh in my memory, but I did love the class so I recall on a lot of the information during classes today. Human Growth & Development has helped me a lot in Fundamentals of Nursing but has popped up not just in the class setting for me but I’ve also been more observant of it all around me and even in myself. I’ve become my own case study as well as for psychology. When it comes to psychology, I’m still learning new things on that subject, it’s allowed me to better understand myself, other people, and their rationale for the things they say and do. The nursing sciences helped me to develop a critical thinking pattern when it comes to assessing not just in the clinical setting but more recently, in everyday life. Wholistic Assessment 2.2 There was plenty ethnic and cultural diversity in the nursing home in which I did my clinicals. From medical diagnoses to their personality and gender, I dealt with black, Hispanic,...

Reflective Review

...20 Self-Reflection As they are intervening in complex human systems, capacity-development practitioners need to be flexible, adaptable and willing to learn from what they do. An important source of learning in real time is the processes and results of monitoring and evaluation (M&E). Bruce Britton explains M&E activities as they are commonly pursued and explores creative ways in which practitioners can use them for personal learning and selfreflection. He also provides suggestions on how this can be done under non-conducive organizational conditions. Monitoring and Evaluation for Personal Learning Bruce Britton By three methods we may learn wisdom: first, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest. (Confucius) Introduction Capacity development practitioners collaborate in efforts to improve the capabilities of complex human systems that operate and connect at different levels. First and foremost, capacity development is a process based on the assumption that better understanding and knowledge will bring about change. Also, the planning for capacity development interventions typically rely on variations of the Logical Framework Approach (LFA), which encourage careful thinking about expected outcomes and impacts. By its very nature LFA assumes that intended results of an initiative can be established in advance because the path that a capacity development process will take can be adequately...

Reflective Essay Analysis

...In writing my synthesis paper as well as the reflection done in week 9 discussion I have modified and refined my writing style as well as my approach to this essay to get a successful outcome. My goals for where this essay is going to go has definitely changed from what I want to present and argue. This mentality has come from the commentary given to me by the other students to push my ideas further, to develop the basic idea of my essay and maturing it into a more creative realm. For the drafting aspect of the paper I have begun constructing the bare bones of the paper, outlining what I want to discuss in the paper, how I want to present it, self-workshopping the body paragraphs and transitions, as well as composing a well thought out thesis that encapsulates all of my ideas into one argument. I have been going through my annotated bibliography that I previously turned in to pick and choose what sources and quotes fit into my revamped thesis and essay format. I think that in the drafting stage it won’t be particularly difficult or easy. In the past articulation and clearly getting my point across in previous writings has come up regularly as retraining myself from not expressing thought that I have on a particular issue has proven difficult. Holding back my ideas in the creative flow has not been my forte. I am confident that new approach to the thesis in the paper, having it more narrowed and focused, will act as a safe guard to stop me from going off on a tangent. I think the...

Self Reflective Analysis

... In the beginning of the fall semester my thoughts on this course was that it was going to be really pointless because I felt like I wasn’t going to learn anything that was going to be useful. But when we started gradually going into good conversation and started having discussions about things that would help us in life my thoughts began to change. What I found useful about cornerstone was the topics we learned and the discussions we had. I found the GPS assignment to be really helping it gave me a lot of help and made me more knowledgeable about college. And I found the True Colors activity we did in class helpful in the course also. Every single time we did a presentation in class I always left the class with something knowledgeable and useful to me that was one key reason why I love attending class. I like how the discussions we had made you think and put the way you think or how you act into perspective. I feel like what we learn will help us in the future as individuals because there’s not many courses you take in college that you can later in the future put what you learn to use. The topics about critical thinking helped me evaluate and rethink the way I handle situations. I also found the professor to be helpful also because every time we do have presentations he would give us examples on how he applies the topics we are talking about into his life. As a freshman in college you are basically clueless about college and don’t really know anything about...

I learn many things in this class, and I am really grateful that I can learn something new. In terms of my writing skills, I have a feeling that my English is so much improved right now because I begin to relearn all the basic grammar skills. Moreover, I am totally different right now when we talk about the sustainability. Most of my friends told me that I more concern on the environment. I used to be very ignorant if we talk about the environment, and I used to think that climate change is my younger generation problem. Reflective Journal Analysis

...After reading my first reflective journal, it has allowed me to stop and think how far we have already come working with the men at our shelter. On our first day we encounter a few rough patches, we were required to stay in a hot room for about 45 minutes before someone showed up to give us some direction. We were told to come out to the common area to talk to the guys, so we sat there for about another 45 minutes until anyone was able to approach us. After a quick introduction some of the guys approached us and talked about some of the concerns they had, some of them thought we were there to do health assessment and provide care, but at time there is still some confusion about why we are there. Since the beginning I have been unsure of what we were going to be doing, and how we were going to be able to interact with the guys. I had no idea what kind of services I was going to be able to perform, or what my role was supposed to be for a community health nurse at the shelter. I struggle with some thoughts in my head on how was I going to be open-minded and be non judgmental during my time...

Gibbs Reflective Analysis

...Student’s ability to analyse and evaluate their development of skills during the module, including their readiness to engage in the PLO, and their future learning needs. Using the Gibbs Reflection Cycle I analysed and evaluated the skills that I have developed through this model. I have been able to develop my ability to tune-in to the service user through the class teaching , reading "Assessing Needs and Planning Care in Social Work" by Taylor and Devine, and writing the tuning in assignment. At the beginning I found it hard to tune in to the service users thought and feelings but the class teaching helped develop this. This module has helped me to understand what the service user may be thinking before an interview and it is essential I understand this for my placement. For me to carry out anti-oppressive practice I need to be able to tune-in to their hopes and worries. I passed my assignment and this made me see that I was able to effectively tune in to the service user and also understand the psychology around that service user group, however I was not very high above the pass mark and I would have liked to have got a higher grade. In the future when I am tuning into service users I will try to look into their thoughts and feelings more, but also look into my own values and feelings towards the service user and their situation. This module has helped me to develop my observational and communication skills. Through the weekly role plays, I have been taught to look at non-verbal...

Reflective Essay Analysis

...When looking back at this semester and all the reflection essays that I wrote, I noticed numerous problems that stood out for each essay and some that repeated themselves. These problems formed various patterns that appeared throughout my writing, brought out my strongest and weakest points for each essay, and made me think about what I would have done differently if I would have had more time. As I began writing the review essay, the annotated bibliographies, and the academic argument, the one problem, or error, that became consistent was lack of detail of the citations I used in my earlier drafts. As I looked back at my essay for the academic argument, this became one of the most noticeable patterns that was consistent throughout all my drafts. For the sources I used in my academic argument, almost all of them did not have the information I needed in order to cite them. Also, another problem for me was that I incorrectly cited my sources. This was the most major problem for me throughout each of my drafts because, before this class, I never had to do a full-on works cited page. The only thing I had to do before was, if I used a website, copy and paste the URL of the website to the end of my paper and that was it; so, doing a proper works cited page did not come naturally to me. Although it made it a little easier having done works cited pages for the other essays we did in this class, the citations were not the same format I had used in the previous essays. The sources I used...

Reflective Summary And Analysis

...hypothetical situation of domestic violence in a couple that I am treating. In addition, I will examine the conceptualization of the violence and provide an explanation of how I would assess the couple. Conceptualization and Assessment After reading this weeks material a concept struck me in regards to conceptualizing and assessing domestic violence situations. According to Murphy & Eckhardt (2005), a CBT concept called a Behavior Assessment can be used to prioritize important characteristics of domestic violence cases. I resonate with this concept because it involves a complete analysis and assessment of abusive behaviors and history, which can be very helpful in the treatment of domestic violence. The behavioral assessment involves, observing behavior, exploring present, past, and recent events of violence, exploring environmental and situational factors that may play into the violence, implement an individual analysis, examine other sources of date about the violence, and maintain and ongoing assessment throughout therapy (Murphy, 2005) . I enjoy the CBT approach to assessing domestic violence because it explores every aspect of the couple, in order to improve their relationship without violence. Practicing In regards to implementing what I learned this week, I think I would definitely implement the behavior assessment to a couple coming into therapy reporting domestic violence. Hypothetically speaking, if a couple presents for therapy for domestic violence, I think I would asses them...

...understanding of relatively complicated or unstructured ideas. It is largely based on the reprocessing of knowledge, understanding and possibly emotions that we already possess” (2005:1). This definition further reiterates the idea that teacher’s reflection is almost exclusively based on problems and failures within the classroom, Moon also presents the idea that reflective practice benefits professional knowledge by “reprocessing” it in order for it to become useful and equally suggests that a level of professional knowledge is required for effective reflection. Therefore, Moon provides an example of reflective practice supporting the development of professional knowledge through...

Self Reflective Analysis

... When school started back up this past September i walked in as a senior with a set of skills that i had already, only looking to improve from there on. I thought to myself that i already was a great writer and that i didn’t need to improve on much. I was oh so wrong, there was a lot that needed to be improved on and thankfully through the course of this semester i have been able to improve on those things. The improvements came about from the different type of essays that we had to write and it brought a whole lot of strengths from it. Although in the past years we have learned on how to write a lot of these papers this year we dove a little more into them. We took different approaches to them to get more out of them than we had before, such as the personal narrative. I have written a personal narrative in the past but this time it helped me improve because i could not just be basic. I learned that i would have to write more in detail for it be a quality paper, that i couldn’t just get away with writing it like a 9th grader any more. The improvement was just as small as having to do with the intro and getting better with my attention getters. It benefitted me because we have to write intos in all of our papers and if you write an intro that can’t grab the attention, no one will be interested in it. Even though i have written a million and one letters of appreciation to people that i'm thankful for, this time was a little different. It took on a different meaning this time...

...Ep Reflection During the different processes of making the essay, I felt that it was easier to make the final written essay as we had already made our points and found our quotes. If we had forgotten different events in the novel we could look at our reading log which helped tremendously as we were reading other novels at the same time. These steps helped me stay on track as I would have procrastinated and finished my essay a day or two before the due date. When writing the essay I found that it was easier and quicker as we had already found the quotes and had all our ideas written down. The steps were put into a good order and helped me focus on a topic. At some points I felt rushed as some of the steps were due a few days after we were given...

Reflective Essay On Analysis Methods

...My Reflection on Application of Analytic Methods Course Nursing profession of today’s world has called for the elevation of the advanced nursing education to a higher degree for a better patient health outcome (Cronenwett, et al., 2011). To this effect, in 2004 the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (ANCN) endorsed that the Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) receive training to the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. In reference to the APRN approval for a higher degree, I went back to school to earn a DNP degree. Looking back at my journey towards obtaining a DNP degree at Chamberlain College of Nursing, I will proudly say that I have completed a sixteen week of my DNP journey that the ANCN has advocated for. Hence, the following account is a self-reflection of my experience in the application of analytical methods course. Over that past eight weeks of the application of analytical methods course, we dealt with different topics, assignments, and discussions that range from PICOT question development to DNP project dissemination. I learnt the importance of evidence-based practices (EBPs) and their relevance to my current job as a nurse practitioner, and most importantly to my upcoming DNP project. My learning experiences during this eight weeks course section has been quite versed. In the first week, the class objective was to formulate a PICOT that will be used for an EBP intervention. I vividly could remember how I struggled to put a one-sentence...
