What is this document?
This document is a set of rules and guidelines to be used by first year students when preparing their profile write-ups and CVs for the summer placement process. It is a collection of answers to the most common questions that students have at this time, and attempts to address the basics of what points are allowed on profiles and CVs, and how to arrange for valid proofs for each of these points.

If you are confused about a particular point, or do not understand that point in the context of your CV, please contact your Placecom mentor. He or she will help clarify it for you. Do not assume your own interpretation of any of the points listed here. When in doubt, have your questions clarified by a member of the Placement Committee.

Note that this document is not a complete set of rules to be followed; it is simply a collection of the most frequently-used guidelines. If you wish to add a point to your profile or CV that is not covered under these guidelines, please contact your Placecom mentor to understand whether such a point is allowed, and how best you can go about collecting a proof for it. Finally, guidelines mentioned in the document are only indicative and in-case of a conflict, the decision of the Placement Committee will be final and binding.

Structure of the CV
1. Header  Name: Mandatory, to be present at the top left corner of the page This does not necessarily have to be the name registered with the PGP office, and may be changed as per the CV name indicated in the profile survey. The name used on CVs will be followed in all placement-related documentation. The CV name thus cannot be changed under any circumstances.    Gender: May be mentioned at the student’s discretion Age: May be mentioned at the student’s discretion IIMA Logo: Mandatory, to be present on the top right corner of the page

Body – Information Content The student may choose to hide any section of the CV, provided the information presented is not misleading in any manner.  Example 1: The student must mention his/her undergraduate results completely or not at all in the table of education details. Partial CGPA till an intermediate semester or a semester GPA may not be mentioned in the CGPA/percentage column. These details may be mentioned in a ‘Remarks’ column or under a section on Academic Achievements.  Example 2: The student may choose not to mention “Dec 2010 to Jan 2012” or “14 months” under the work experience section. The same information cannot be presented as “2010 to 2012” since this is clearly misleading.

Body – Work Experience, Internships & Projects  Company name: The name mentioned here must be the same as that in the body of the offer letter or the relieving letter. Logos, headers and footers on these documents will not be accepted as official names. Example: DB CIB cannot be mentioned as Deutsche Bank. Morgan Stanley Advantage Services cannot be shortened to Morgan Stanley.  Designation: The designation mentioned here must be the same as that on an offer letter OR most recent letter of promotion OR relieving letter. The last held designation, detailed on a relieving letter may be mentioned against the whole tenure in an organization.   Mentioning the number of months of experience is optional. How to calculate your total work experience: Case 1: Total addition of extra days >= 30 Company ABC (10 months and 12 days) Company XYZ (37 months and 19 days) Since extra days = (19 + 12) >= 30, the excess days can be rounded up to an extra month.

Note: Round up the work experience number only for the company corresponding to the highest fraction of a month. In this case, Company XYZ would be rounded up to 38 months, and Company ABC would remain 10 months. Case 2: Total addition of extra days

...The Art of Love, written by Ovid, was a set of three books, the first being a guide or rule book on how to “pick-up” women and the second book a rule book on how to keep the woman you have or “caught” satisfied and interested in you. The third and final book that he wrote was written for women on what to do to catch and keep a man, since he felt it was only fair for women to also be “armed” when it comes to picking- up men. The rules that Ovid describes in The Art of Love are similar to the rules that most people follow in the “cruising and catching” game because they are effective and produce results, although not all the rules described in Ovid’s book are still used, a great majority of them are and have not changed after so many years.
