...student’s study habits? But then choosing only a specific title which is, “Effects of playing NBA2k Series to basketball athletes”, (how this affect their play in real basketball games). Basically the concern is when these athletes play NBA2k, seeing the moves of the players in that games and applying these specific moves or strategies to the way the athletes play basketball. This could also be applied in other sports like FIFA games. Statement of the problem Computer games are growing fast today. We all see that children are mimicking some games into their real life situations in either good or bad way. One example could be the game “ The Sims” in which people use their imaginations in building their dream houses in the game and maybe some may copy the blueprint of the structure and put it into reality. Will the game NBA2k be like the game Sims that athletes may use the play style of the players in that game in applying it to their play style on the way they play their games? Significance of the study The research is for the athletes who play basketball and for the people who are interested to learn playing this sport, by applying what they learn from the game. This might help the athletes improve their skills and strategies in their actual games. ...For this assignment I’ve been asked to describe how marketing techniques are used in two products of my choosing for this I’ve chosen The Sims game and the original Coca Cola. Marketing is the promotion and selling of a product to a target market. The Sims is a strategic life simulation game created by Maxis first released in 2000 it has now grown into the best-selling pc game franchise in history selling more than 150 million copies. Coca Cola Enterprises Ltd is a global non-alcoholic drinks company founded in 1886 by John Pemberton Coca-Cola sell their products in over 200 countries, and sell approximately 1.7 billion servings of Coca-Cola every day. They are the leading market in soft drinks. Aims and Objectives Growth strategies Diversification Diversification is a method of gaining more sales to your product by adding other products to your existing product or ‘expanding’ your product. The Sims game series has created new games to cater to different types of people diversification has been used here as the original Sims game was a pc game and over the past 13 years games have been created for multiple different consoles i.e. PlayStation, Xbox, GameCube and Nintendo. This is one of the reasons the game is so successful and widely known. Coca cola do this also through creating different soft drinks to cater to different tastes, i.e. Diet coke, Fanta or Flavoured waters as original Coca Cola isn’t always to everybody’s taste. ...Dependent Variable: SIMS Independent Variables: GRIP, ARM The dependent variable SIMS is determined by independent variables GRIP and ARMThe most important independent variable in this relationship seems to be ARM because the data seems to be moved more by the change in ARM than in it does by the change in GRIP. | | SIMS (simulations) is the dependent variable in this experiment. A simulation is defined as a way to model random events, such that simulated outcomes closely match real-world outcomes. By observing simulated outcomes, researchers gain insight on the real world (Simulation of Random Events, 2014). The simulations in this case required that the participant exert force on a simulated wrench while assuming standing and a kneeling position. GRIP (grip strength) is one of the independent variables in this experiment. Grip strength is defined as the measurable ability to exert pressure with the hand, fingers, or both. It is measured by having a patient forcefully squeeze, grip, orpinch dynamometers; results are expressed in either pounds or kilograms of pressure. (Mosby's Medical Dictionary 8th Edition, 2009) ARM (arm strength) is the other independent variable in this experiment. Arm strength is easily defined as the strength of your arm. Strength is defined as creating muscular tension (Hargrove, 2011). In this experiment, GRIP and ARM determine the SIMS. The idea is that the higher the higher the GRIP and ARM, the higher the SIMS numbers will be. Therefore...

...What Is A Video Game By: Kiara Foisy Video games are one form of gaming systems that are slowly taking over the world. No one wants to go outside know a days, they just want to stay indoors and play video games. For some people who may not know what a video game is it is “An electric or computerized game played by manipulating images on a video display or television screen” (Farley, 2012, Paragraph1). Video games are separated into categories, which include Role-Playing, Strategy, and Simulation. One category of video games is Role-Playing. Role-playing is “a game in which participants adopt the roles of imaginary characters in an adventure under the direction of a Game Master” (Dictionary, 2012, Paragraph 1). In other words a Role-Playing game, also known as RPG, is when one or more people assume a task and play it out in virtual reality. You would set out on a life as the main character and live it, while completing tasks and going on adventures. An example of a role-playing game is Final Fantasy XIII, which was released on March 9th, 2012. While playing Final Fantasy XIII, you play as multiple people doing multiple things. You battle powerful enemies and magical allies in the worlds of Cocoon and Pulse. Two more examples of role-playing games are Fable 3 and Dragon Age: Origins, both of which were released in the year 2010. Another video game category is Strategy. A strategy video game is “a genre of video games that emphasize skillful thinking and planning to achieve...

...When is a Game No Longer a Game? Joel AJ Parker Northwood University Video games are becoming a huge part of a person’s life nowadays, especially children. It is no longer the world of board and card games. Many people would argue that video games do not allow a person to use their imagination. However, Will Wright would beg to differ. Wright believes that video games now allow a person to use their imagination to create their own scenarios and customize a “new life” within a game. However, I believe that he would agree that the video game world could be evolving to a point where they are no longer making “games”. There is a controversial online “game” that has the title of Second Life. Some might ask when a game stops being a game? What is the limit for reality in a video game or is there even a limit? There is a certain limit to the reality of a video game; it should no longer be a video game when a person can consider it their second life. Second Life is a computer game that is a virtual world. It allows the gamer to enter a world and design an avatar for the “game’s” virtual world. The game allows players to purchase land, property, cars, and clothing as well as other real life amenities. It is unlike other virtual worlds because it allows for the player to profit from the game; it seems to take over their actual life. Second Life allows the player to convert their “Linden Dollars” into cash via a PayPal account. They are allowed to sell their creations in the virtual...

...Team Dynamics & Ethics If there is one thing I learned from my forbidden Island game experience with my teammates, it is what Phil Jackson said, ‘the strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.’ Our team dynamics during the game attests to the truth of that statement. Our team was simultaneously weakened, and strengthened by this principle. Group Formation In the first round of the game, although we had read the rules of the game, we were all unsure of how to execute the instructions, so the member who had previous exposure to the game, emerged as the natural leader of the group. During this team forming stage, members were mostly subdued, and compliant, as we were all trying to establish what the rules of engagement were. Although we had worked together as a team before, group norms had not yet been established. During this round, we established some norms and values such as deciding how much we would stick to the game rules. It was determined that we would follow the rules of the game even if it meant that we lost the game. We adhered to these values for all consecutive plays, even when it meant that we were the worst performing team in the class by losing all 3 games. Roles and responsibilities within the team were also cemented as people’s strengths and weaknesses became more apparent. 2nd Round In the second round, when people had to play for points, people’s motivators became really evident. We had one...

...Improbable Plot Casts Unflattering Light on SNC-Lavalin In October of 2012, one of Canada’s largest engineering companies, which was also one of the world’s five largest, hired a new CEO in what looked like the next chapter of an ongoing attempt to put a series of revelations about unethical and potentially illegal dealings around the world behind them. While the company had fired some key people who were connected with the scandals, there were those who publicly mused that the reported unethical and illegal dealings weren’t just the work of a rogue international VP, Riadh Ben Aissa, but that Mr. Ben Aissa’s way of doing business was well-understood within SNC. While Mr. Ban Aissa was detained in jail in Switzerland on suspicion of paying bribes in order to get contracts in North Africa, including Libya, the new CEO, Robert Card, stated that sorting out the payments scandal would be the job of the company’s Board of Directors and his job would be to reassure investors by growing the business. At that time, investor concerns had caused the stock price to fall to $35 from $60 18 months earlier. Over the past three years the company had reported strong financial results. In 2010, SNC-Lavalin’s revenues had been $6.0 billion and profit reached a record $477 million. In 2011, revenues had grown to $7.2 billion but profit declined to $379 million, partly as a result of the pullout from Libya, but still the second highest in company history. In 2012, the revenues were again trending...
