...The author mentions that “NCES changed the way it tabulated bullying incidents in 2005 and cautions against using earlier data. Its biennial reports find that 28% of students ages 12-18 reported being bullied in 2005; that percentage rose to 32% in 2007, before dropping back to 28% in 2009” The Research he shows indicates that the number of people bullied has gone down but According to an article published by New York Times called “Parents often unaware of bullying” by Tara Parker-pope “Research indicates that as many as 75 percent of teens have been bullied online, but only one in 10 have reported the problem to parents or other adults…” This is true about many people because they are afraid if they report the bullying parents will limit their internet use and social activities. A similar fear can cause a child to not report being bullied in school. ...Why Not Let Teens Get Elective Cosmetic Surgery ? Many things would change if teens were able to have elective cosmetic surgery. Sometimes people disagree because they pay to much attention to the negative things that can happen or the outcome of it. I think that teens should be able to get elective cosmetic surgery. In the documentary, “Second Chances” by NBC Dateline there is a girl named Renata and she feels really bad about her appearance. She won't go to school or just in general not go outside at all. She doesn't go to school because the kids make fun of her and she feels like anywhere she goes they will make fun of her. ...If you witnessed a child being tortured would you help? One in four kids are bullied, and for these kids going to school can become torture. Bullying in general should not happen over something as simple as clothes. This is why kids elementary thru high school should wear school uniforms. In many ways school uniforms can help develop equality. School uniforms while destroying bullying over clothes can also implant the idea of uniformity that all students are the same and part of the school same as everybody else. The idea that a uniform can bring people together is nothing new. In sports every team has their uniform and speaking as an athlete seeing someone in your team's jersey rewards them respect, as you know they are apart of the team. It's the same idea build up the family aspect. Creating school unity is crucial in avoiding bullying becoming a prominent issue. If all students were equal bullying would not exist, but as it is impossible for all students to be the same school uniforms are the best way to make all students feel equal....

...seeing that the person he is bullying is scared. You would think that this sight of fear would stop a bully from attacking, but it doesn’t. It makes the bully feel powerful and with power comes control. It is unfair because no one should have to walk through life scared to go to school or scared to enjoy themselves around other children. The child that is being bullied will try to find some route of escape whether it be dropping out of school, suicide, etc. Bullying is an immoral and very unfair action toward another human being. If bullying is happening to any child and anyone sees it. We should stop it before it goes too far. I watched this documentary called bully; this film was shot in 2011. It’s about five children that were getting bullied. The producer followed 3 of the children through school, on bus rides, and at their home. The other two children they had to interview their parents and follow rallies that their parents attended because those two boy’s committed suicide. One little boy stood out to me because the look in his eye’s was so heart breaking his name was Alex. Alex was from Sioux City, Iowa he was bullied because he was different. Alex was punched, slapped, choked and poked with objects. Alex told teachers and counselors at his school about what was happening to him, but they over looked the issue. They didn’t take what was happening to him seriously. To me that right there is the problem that is why children stop caring about themselves and...

...incident takes place. The policy states that “employees will report an incident within 2-school days of the employee witnessing the incident.” (Hollister R-V Schools 14) They report cases of bullying by filling out an Incident Report Form. This supports the claim that instances of bullying are reported. Due to the fact that cases of bullying are reported, there will be an investigation regarding the incident. As long as the bully is reported, the staff and administration will take action and there will be an investigation to decide on the discipline of the bully within 10 schools days. If the case worthy, it can extend past 10 days. This bully policy is also effective because it states what the victim of bullying should do when they are bullied. The policy says that the victim should report it to a staff member and fill out a Student Report Form regarding the incident. This form asks for reports of students to not “clean up anything that was said or done” (Student Report Form 3). Other students are also encouraged to fill out the same form if they have witnessed bullying taking place. Some may argue that students are afraid to report such events due to retaliation that could happen if they do tell a staff member. The handbook has a sections that address this issue. There are consequences such as in-school-suspension and out-of-school suspension. Students should feel comfortable when reporting instances of bullying and know that if the bully retaliates, there will be further...

...Turning Negative, Positive The ability to do something that frightens one. That is the definition of courage. Every day, children around the United States are bullied for various reasons, yet a few individuals have found courage by helping those who need it most. In addition, students have fought to protect their peers by initiating certain acts like “Pink Shirt Day.” Though bullying can often ruin a victim’s day, the up-standers around them can make their day wonderful again. While seeing them in the wild or at parks, like SeaWorld, can both give people happiness and exciting feelings. Now take a minuet. ...teased Nabozny for being gay. The harassment started out verbally, but rapidly progressed into traumatizing physical and sexual abuse. The physical abuse was so severe that Nabozny couldn’t even use the school restrooms. One day while Nabozny was using the school restroom, several of his class mates came in and started harassing him. At one point Nabozny was pushed to the floor by one of the students, while kicked and urinated on by the others. The abuse did not stop there, it eventually became sexual. Male students would touch Nabozny inappropriately while whispering in his ear asking him if he liked it. When these situations were taken to the school administration they simply said “boys will be boys” and no one was held accountable (Documentary). School administration must enforce the Code of Conduct to ensure that all students feel safe. In Mark Brown’s article, “Life After Bullying”, he states that bullying is a serious problem. It is known that bullying has become a worldwide problem. “Bullying is a type of aggression in which the behavior is intended to harm or disturb, occurs repeatedly over time, and where an imbalance of power occurs, with a more powerful person or group attacking a less powerful one” (Nansel et al). “Younger children have a different definition of what bullying is, which changes as they get older” (Smith et al).Meanwhile, students say that they are “just kidding” when they say something offensive to another student. When Liam was a child he tried to cut off his penis and she caught him dressed as a girl before and she just said to keep it a secret from Dad. But while this explosion arises when Liam comes out, she flees the scene and exclaims how she cannot handle it.
