I consider Intellectual Stimulation from the Transformational Leadership behavior model to be the most important for me as a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) in today’s Air Force. It is imperative for a leader to know his people and moreover have a good understanding of their personalities, views, and beliefs. To value Airmen’s rationality and intellect requires that I take the necessary time to know them, to explore who they are and how they operate in a variety of situations. Applying this concept encourages Airmen to expose their views and, in turn, allows me to see the world through their eyes. Transformational leaders who can efficiently stimulate subordinates’ intellect promotes rational thinking and creativity which can generate innovative ideas and new ways to solve …show more content…
I will use flight activities to get to know my Airmen and analyze how they react and respond to unexpected situations. Flight duty exercises is another effective tool I will use to inspire critical thinking and creativity while soliciting new ideas and perspectives. This concept can then be developed and applied to exercise situations leading to solving complex problems within my work center. I will continuously challenge my subordinates to identify and diagnose problems within the flight and collectively generate ideas and ways to solve them. Airmen will be required to put together plans on how we can be safe for example and avoid vehicle accidents or how we can improve our facilities and better utilize our equipment to improve our effectiveness as a flight. Ultimately, and without fail, I will ensure all Airmen understand they are directly contributing to the mission success and their ideas, views, and beliefs are valued and indispensable for the effective flight’s day-to-day

Though authenticity appears to be a noble trait, how effective is this as a leadership approach, specifically in increasing altruistic employee organizational citizenship behaviors? Is authentic leadership more effective than other leadership approaches, such as transformational leadership? This study examined the extent to which authentic leadership is a stronger predictor of employee organizational citizenship behavior (OCBs) compared to transformational leadership. The analysis also investigated the extent to which overall job satisfaction mediated the relationship between authentic leadership and OCBs. The findings suggest that in fact three out of the fours sub scales in authentic leadership had a positive effect on both overall job satisfaction and the OCB of altruism.
