...Challenges this semester This semester I will face many challenges this semester while in School. The issues I will be faced with are my schedule, getting good grades this semester, debit-financial hardships, and my health issues. The first challenge is my schedule because I am working two jobs, school and trying to study 25 hours a week. One Job is twenty hours a week the second job is about 12 but if there are events it could be more like this last weekend where I work 9 hours Saturday and 8 hours Saturday. The first Job is at Grand Canyon University which I work in the facilities as an assistant, and the Second Job is at my church, Trinity Bible Church. I am trying to study 25 hours a week and I have not been able to do that. I am working on making a weekly schedule on excel to get it figure out. The second challenge is my financial issues. I have a lot of debit that I am trying to get paid off. I also found out Friday that the route cannel I need is not covered and the total cost for the route cannel is 1,300 which I can do a monthly payment plan for but it requires a down payment I am having to wait for that to take care of it. The third challenge is my health issues which are pain and diarrhea. I have had lots of test done and there is no indications into why I am having the pain and diarrhea. This semester I am facing many challenges and Philippians 4:13 is what I am living by right now which says I can do all things through Christ who strengthens...

...As I attend English 104 this semester I plan on learning many new things. The main thing that I expect to learn and improve is how to research more efficiently. According to the course goals explained on the syllabus, I will also learn to create and complete research projects by generating a research question, engaging in critical reading, developing an argument with evidence collected from both primary and secondary research, and also how to site my sources. I believe that with better research techniques I will be able to communicate what I have learned into writing more easily as well as make my essays more knowledgeable. One of my challenges I will face in English 104 will be getting motivated to write the actual essays. I have never really liked writing that much and I think that if I am going to become a successful business major I will have to get better at translating my thoughts onto paper. Another challenge I may face this semester is procrastination. No matter what I am doing I always find a way to procrastinate, especially in college. My goal this semester is to be a better student and stay on top of my schoolwork. The way my schedule is set up right now I know I will have a lot of busy work and I will just have to dedicate myself to my studies. Overall I think that English 104 will be a great class and I am looking forward to this semester. One of the most recent incidents where I had to conduct research was just the other day. As a Christmas present I was supposed...

...As I progress through this semester, I have begun to establish goals for myself to make the school year successful. By setting goals, I can turn a challenging semester into one that runs smoothly and feels less complicated. Although some goals have obstacles, I try my best to work hard and challenge myself. By challenging myself, I can conquer the goals I set. I have many goals, but some have more importance than others. My semester goals include making good grades, making new friends, and getting involved in extracurricular activities. My main goal this semester is to make good grades. Grades are definitely the most important factor in my life at school. I strive to do my best to retain as much information as possible. Grades determine many things, such as an average for a class or whether one can get into a certain college. Making good grades challenges me because some classes are more difficult than others. For example, I struggle with English and pre-calculus more than anything. I have to write many essays for English; therefore, I try to work on my writing skills so that I...

...For as long as I can remember, I've never been complacent with the knowledge I possess. Constantly setting new goals that will stretch my mind into something that it was not the day before and allowing every experience to shape me, while never loosing a handle on my own personal convictions and what I have learned along the way, has always been a way of life for me. For me, pursuing a legal education is not a terminal accomplishment, nor will obtaining a legal degree quench this ongoing thirst for knowledge that I have always had; I don't want it to. I constantly need to be in pursuit of challenging goals that that require considerable mind expansion and personal reflection. The experiences and knowledge that I will acquire in attending law school will stretch my mind to think in ways that I never have, allowing me to face future intellectual, professional, and academic goals with confidence and enthusiasm. Mid way through my senior year, the University of Arizona choose me to be their undergraduate representative at the "Arizona First" town hall meeting, a three day, bipartisan conference focus on shaping legislation that will bring economic growth and prosperity to AZ. During this three day conference I worked closely with Arizona state representatives and senators, the majority of whom where lawyers, in proposing new legislation with the potential of bringing new job opportunities, more commerce, and an overall better standard of living to the state. It was one of the first...

...College….the Obstacle Course of Higher Education College is not for everyone. However, for those who want a higher education there are many obstacles. High school students often do not realize the looming challenges they are about to come face to face with. For those who are not from a financially well off family they need help paying for their books and college tuition. First time college students also face the issue of not being academically prepared for higher level education by the high school they attended and being responsible for their own problems and tasks. One of the main problems that stands in the way of most people looking to further their education is finding a way to pay for it. College students often have to turn to the dreaded student loan to continue paying...

...Graduate Study Challenges and Strategies for Personal Success When deciding to return to graduate school, a person has made an excellent step in advantaging their knowledge in their particular career field. Before returning to graduate school, most people have given serious thought to the time commitment that they will have to face for the next two to four years. They have had many sleepless nights and day dreamed about the stress they will face to complete a graduate degree. Therefore entering a graduate program should not be taken lightly. In many disciplines it is required to have a graduate degree to practice independently in that career field (e.g. Social Worker and Psychologist). Nursing is now requiring nurses to have a graduate degree to advance into management positions. Employers are demanding their nurses to have more than just the knowledge to care for patients. They want the nurse who is placed in a management role to have the knowledge to be a leader. Nurses are returning to school to gain more knowledge in their career field, increase effective communication skills, have a higher potential for promotion, and to have a greater earning power. When deciding to return to graduate school, a student must have a strategy that is going to get them through the next two-four challenging years of their life. Personal and Professional Goals My reason for pursuing a graduate degree is to gain more knowledge in the healthcare industry, become a more effective...

...For me, I feel as if there have been many “ah ahh” moments during the first three months of my time in the Barry University CRNA program. I have had my ups and downs throughout my first semester and I have learned a wealth of new information related to my profession. And I also know that everything we have learned is only the tip of the iceberg and we will continue to have “ah ahh” moments throughout the rest of our 25 more months in this program as well as when we are clinical CRNAs and working as a professional in this field. I think one of my first big “ah ahh” moments came to me during the wellness lecture by Janet DeWan. I struggled in the beginning of the semester with getting back into the mode of studying daily and keeping up with reading and school work as I had been removed from the full time school load for two years during my time as an ICU nurse. I was exhausted and struggling to keep up with my daily reading and studying for multiple very intense courses in this program. I thought I was the only one who was struggling and becoming overwhelmed. I wasn’t alone, and I learned that in talking with my classmates. I was able to talk to them about their own personal struggles and stresses that they were facing with this program as well and we became a support system for each other. Janet Dewan then talked to us about the stresses we face as SRNAs and later in life as CRNAs and the importance of finding our own coping mechanisms for that stress so that we do not...

...I have been a student at the Miami Dade Honors College for 2 semesters now, and over the course of each semester I have grown and learned more than I thought possible. I came to the Honors College in hopes of transferring to an out of state college and because my family and I did not have the resources to pay for loans at a university. I am a gifted student and I was ready to face the challenges set before me. However, circumstances led to the under realization of my potential in this past year. My first semester in college was challenging because of lack of support I was getting at home. My parents were constantly fighting because my father was the only one that is providing for the family. I understood the pressure he was under with the...

I will be successful by listening to advice from experts, by developing strategies, and by taking advantage of the benefits offered by my college. ...been most challenging term in my stay at US. I faced a lot of difficulties at the beginning of this term despite this is not my first term at Duquesne, so things went not as I expected. It is such feelings which make life interesting as we always have new problems and challenges to deal with but also have some interesting events going on. As soon this semester started I tried to do my best to develop my skills and to incorporate to this new culture. I faced two main difficulties which made me more stronger than before In facing problem. One difficulties that I faced at the beginning of this semester is some misunderstanding in the registration of my classes. The head of ESL program told me that I did not register for the Grammar and Graduate Research Paper. I was shocked because I already registered for these two classes before I went to Saudi Arabia in the Summer. they told me that there were no more spaces for me. I faced a bad treatment which made me angry and so depressed. They may have missed my file, so they did not register me. Fortunately, they overcame the problem, and they opened another grammar section. Another thing which I did not like they put me in the Term Paper class instead of the Graduate Research Paper which made me sad, but recently I realized it is better for me. Another difficulties that I faced is when I took my first academic class, I felt uncomfortable, and I did not know how to deal with this new class and how the class will look like...

...Strategies The Three strategies that I am using from the success strategies guide are to stay motivated, choose a great study environment, and to do the hardest or my least favorite task first. The reason that I chose these three strategies are that staying motivated is key, without motivation you will not have the drive or the desire to accomplish a task and keeping my eyes on the prize is all the motivation that I need. Choosing a great study environment is key for me because this will limit my distractions and sitting in my favorite chair is very important because it makes me feel comfortable and when I feel good I tend to have a positive outlook on doing my work. And lastly I chose to do the hardest assignment first because it usually requires the most attention and when I get to easier assignments I will find them even easier and will feel good while doing them because I will not have to stress over doing a harder assignment next. Out of these three the most beneficial to me is staying motivated because like I said before without the motivation to do a task it will more than likely not get done and if it is completed it will not be up to the standard set by the instructor. I have changed my routine greatly since beginning school, for instance I don’t go home and play video games or watch television like before. I have set times to do these things and they usually happen after I finish that week’s assignment. Some of the things that I picked up from my classmates where...

...transition to UVA-Wise has been successful for the most part, however I have been faced with many challenges as well. Although, I had prepared for my college experience I do not believe one truly acknowledges the struggles college students face until they become a college student. My first semester at UVA-Wise has been a wonderful learning experience thus far. There are many factors that play a considerable role as to what has made my transition smoother. As a result, I plan to use all the things I have learned this semester and utilize them in my coming years here at UVA-Wise. There are many resources and individuals who work on campus that have assisted with my transition at UVA-Wise. Being a resident of Pound, I am currently a commuter student. Therefore, I am aware and familiar with the...

...resolution to me is a challenge to better myself in the year. I have three New Year’s resolutions in order to make 2013 a successful year. My first resolution is to maintain my 4.0 grade point average. I worked hard throughout the 2012 fall semester to have a perfect GPA and accomplished it. Now that 2013 is here I plan to keep my grades up. Accomplishing this resolution will be difficult due to nearly sixty baseball games and practices throughout this spring semester, but I will continue to push myself and come out on top. This is my top resolution because it will help me achieve going on to a four year college and aid being successful in life. The second resolution I have is being a starter on the Hinds baseball team. Dedication is the key to accomplishing this task. I have to work hard and be the best I can be every day. Being surrounded by talented players on my team will make this hard to achieve, but I have to prove that I’m the one of the guys that needs to be in the lineup in order to win. This will be difficult, but by pushing myself I know I can succeed in this resolution. My last resolution is to take more responsibility in my life. I’m not saying I’m not responsible, but by being even more responsible can better myself in the long run. Handling my business and controlling what I can control is the solution. Responsibility is a big part in life in order to be successful. By achieving this resolution it will prepare me to face the challenges I will run into...

...Essay I am a transfer student from Santa Monica Community College in Los Angeles, California. This is my first semester in Northeastern University and I am currently enrolled in 5 different classes, including English 1111. I am a Chinese who is born and raised in Malaysia, and apparently English is not my first language. I started to learn English since I was 10, and decided to study abroad in United States when I was 20. I have taken a few English classes since I came to the United States, and I have learned a lot from each of my English professors, which increased my current level of confidence and skill in writing. In this semester, I have enrolled 4 different classes such as Managerial Accounting, Personal Skill Development for Business, International Business and Global Social Responsibility, and Business Statistic. All of these classes are related to business studies, which is my major. Among so many different concentrations in business, I have chosen finance because my father has influenced me in many ways since I was young. He is an active trader on the share market with an extensive portfolio. Therefore, he always shares his insights with me and teaches me how to perform technical analysis and fundamental analysis to identify the intrinsic value of a company. Eventually, this makes me have more interest in finance and the stock market. I am confident that I have much to offer and I am geared to learn more in Northeastern University. First of all, the class I am most...

...The Advocacy Project that I worked on this semester was regarding The Jeanne Clery Act. The Jeanne Clery Act is a federal law passed in 1990, requires all colleges and universities who receive federal funding to share information about crime on campus and their efforts to improve campus safety as well as inform the public of crime in or around campus. This information is made publicly accessible through the university's annual security report. Even though I had an idea about what They Clery Act meant, I learned a lot more in depth information. I can now say I know what grounds this act is on. I know how to describe it to people and talk about it. As to before I wasn’t really able to discuss it, now I can have a conversation and input when someone is talking. Seeing how critical it is to make sure all crime gets reported in the Annual Security Report by October 1st, made me realize it’s more than just the campus police department that handles crime, it’s also the women’s center, CAPS, and local police departments. They help and assist by giving statistics and at the end of the yearly term....
