Good Morning/afternoon Dr Henderson and 10C, today i am going to be presenting a speech about a space topic. My choose topic is the dark flow.

In todays presentation I will be explaining and defining exactly what the dark flow is as well as its possible causes, theories and just how much limit of understanding we have on the phenomenon.

The dark flow is an astrophysical term to describe a force which can not be explained by any of the known gravitational forces in the observable universe and is responsible for moving whole clusters of galaxies in convoy towards a single point in space between constellations Centaurus and Vela.

In 2008 NASA scientists came across the dark flow while studying some of the largest structures in the cosmos. According to standard cosmological models the motion of galaxy clusters should be randomly distributed in all directions. When scientists analysed WMAP data they discovered that clusters were moving 3.2 km per hour towards a single region in space. This motion is separate from the expansion of the universe and does not change as distance increases. Scientists came to the conclusion that whatever is driving the movement of matter must lie beyond the observable universe. …show more content…
Astrologers have a theory called inflation posits that the universe we see is just a small segment of space time that got rapidly expanded after the Big Bang. This means that there could be other parts of the cosmos beyond the observable universe. Because scientists believe that there are unseen parts of the universe beyond what we know they have deducted that whatever is driving the movement of clusters must lie beyond the known universe. It could have much larger structures than anything in the observable universe which are tugging on galaxy clusters causing the dark

Benefits of Chocolate and Memory

...eating chocolate two hours before taking math test increased test scores. In this study fifty women and fifty men were selected from a large pool of random people. The purpose of this study is to gain the understanding of the effect of chocolate on one’s memory. The study will be a one-tailed t-test though the women had different results than the male subjects, both will have an increase in memory The hypothesis will also be a null hypothesis with the assumption that the results of this study will be of no significant difference than the previous study. The results of this testing could give home to many with memory disorders such as Alzheimer’s. For the purpose of this study, I have used a commercial grade dark chocolate for the following reasons. Dark chocolate contains flavanol which is antioxidants. Flavanol can increase...

...powdered charcoal (Ink A), 80% UEO and 20% powdered charcoal (Ink B), and lastly 100% UEO and no charcoal (Ink C). Ink A was recorded to have the highest tone quality and highest viscosity, which was proven through the chromatography test. Ink B was found to be second highest in terms of both tone quality and viscosity, while Ink C exhibited the lowest tone quality and lowest viscosity level. Tone quality was recorded by testing the pens for writing, and viscosity level was tested through the chromatography test. After gathering data and results, Ink B was concluded to be the most suitable in replacing sign pen ink, having a fair tone quality and a viscosity level low enough to prevent clogging in the pen. Ink A exhibited obstruction in the ink flow of the pen, having high levels of charcoal. As for the constituents of the inks, it was found that a higher...

...process being that certain violent instances in the recent past are the direct result of “Video gamers who seemed to be acting out some dark fantasy” (Carey, 2013, p.1). To support his argument, Carey discusses several studies, though most at this point are inconclusive. From statements made by research psychologists, to studies done to show the effects of violent video games and how youths exposed to the effects said they are to have on aggression levels in these youths. The possibility also exists that aggressive youths can also be a direct result of family life and the exposure to aggressive behavior. In essence these youths are acting out habitual aggression. Carey makes mention of the three categories research falls into which consist of short-term laboratory experiments; longer-term studies, and correlation studies (2013, p. 6). Discussion of how playing these violent video games and how it “stirs the blood” (Carey, 2013, p. 7) was one study conducted. The results were that the youths that played a violent video game for 15 minutes were more likely to give fellow classmates large helpings of hot sauce, knowing these classmates didn’t like hot sauce, than those students who played a nonviolent video game (Carey, 2013, p. 9). Carey uses lots of transitioning through the many studies conducted throughout his paper. It flows very well and makes the essay easy to read with his choice of wording. Several examples make a reader stop to think about the validity...

Term Paper

...Gustav Kirchhoff Student: Austin Stilwell Class: PHY-151 Instructor: Prof. G.Camilo Lab Date: July 21, 2014 CVCC For my term paper I decided to research and write about Gustav Kirchhoff. Gustav was the son of a lawyer; he was born and educated in Königsberg, Prussia (now the Russian city Kaliningrad). He graduated from Albertus University in 1847 and soon after married Clara Richelot, the daughter of his mathematics professor. The couple immediately relocated to Berlin, where Kirchhoff had obtained an unpaid teaching position. In 1850, at the unusually young age of 26, he received an appointment as Professor Extraordinaire in Breslau (now Wroclaw), Poland (Gustav Robert Kirchhoff). Gustav is often referred to as the father of electrical currents. I chose to write my paper about Kirchhoff because; I am currently studying electrical engineering technology. A lot of the information that you learn freshman year is based around Kirchhoff’s Laws. In 1845, Kirchhoff became acquainted with Bunsen, who urged him to follow him to Heidelberg, Germany, which he did in 1854. As a professor of physics at the university there, Kirchhoff was very successful, but he did suffer personal adversity when his wife died in 1869, leaving him alone to finish raising their four children, a task made more difficult by a disability that often confined him to a wheelchair or to the use of crutches (Molecular Expressions). Gustav also announced his voltage laws at this...

Nipa Palm Husk

...Abstract This investigatory project was conducted to prove if nipa palm fruit husk, distilled water, Ferrous Sulfate and gum Arabic can produce an ink that can be substituted to commercial ink. In conducting the experiment, the researchers gathered nipa fruits, these were cut into small portions and weighed into 200 grams. The reduced fruits were soaked in a mixture of 100ml distilled water and 1 gram Ferrous Sulfate (FeSO4) as solvent, vinegar, and salt. Theset-up was boiled for one hour. After boiling the mixture was filtered to separate the black filtrate from undissolved particles. On a laser bond paper the ink produced was tested after being refilled to a pen and was compared to other synthetic commercial ink available in the market. The conductivity and transmittance time , drying time and luminance and adhesion were tested and compared. Results of the test showed that the experimental ink with a proportion of 200 grams nipa palm fruit husk, 100 ml distilled water, 1 gram ferrous sulfate and ½ tablespoon of salt and ½ tablespoon of vinegar produced an output with the highest conductivity and transmittance time, drying time and luminance and adhesion. With the cost of production much lower than that of a commercial ink and having no significant difference in the mean property to the commercial ink the Nipa Palm Fruit Husk Ink proved to be more economical to produce. ...

...Section A March 2015 09071949701 Chapter I Introduction Background of the Study One of the most important historical applications of wood charcoal was as a constituent of gunpowder. It was also used in metallurgical operations as a reducing agent, but its application has been diminished by the introduction of coke, anthracite smalls, etc. A limited quantity is made up into the form of drawing crayons; but the greatest amount is used as a fuel, which burns hotter and cleaner than wood. Charcoal is often used by blacksmiths, for cooking, and for other industrial applications. One additional use of charcoal rediscovered recently is in horticulture. Although American gardeners have been using charcoal for a short while, research on Terra preta soils in the Amazon has found the widespread use of biochar by pre-Columbian natives to turn otherwise unproductive soil into very rich soil. The technique may find modern application, both to improve soils and as a means of carbon sequestration. The world today is suffering for an economic crisis; many people seem to realize the importance of each item that needs to be bought. Ink is an ordinary item but prevalent in everyday use. Some things that provide ink for its functions are expensive that not all people can afford. That’s why the researcher investigated a project that can help lessen the economic crisis for the production of ink. Statement of the problem Generally, this study tries...

Organisms in a Drop of Water

...a microscope. Due to the fast innovations and advances in microscopy, we are now capable of examining, determining and observing them. This experiment, which utilized the hay infusion as the residing area of microorganisms, investigated the living organism in a drop of water, their manifestation of the different attributes in life. During the run of the experiment, paramecium and specie 1 were observed and were tested to determine the impact of different stimulus to microorganisms in three setups. At the end of the experiment, the variety of setups has been shown to affect the number and kinds of species seen, such as placing hay infusion in dark and the other one, exposed to sunlight, adding brine and sugar solution on the setups. The third section of this paper will deal with relative number of species observed and seen. This paper tackles how microorganism thrive and exemplify mechanisms for survival in the different setups for comparison Moreover, this proves that even in a small drop of water, still, life can exist and microorganisms prosper. I. INTRODUCTION Life on Earth was said to have begun 3.5 billions of years ago. Until now it is still dominating, counting and adding years to life’s age. For an organism to be considered living or possesses life, they must portray different attributes of life. This include mainly by movement, irritability, contractility, perpetuation of life, adaptation, nutrition and growth and development. Living organisms come across...

...Apple Inc. is an international company that focuses in the manufacture of consumer and business computers, electronics and software. The firm was established on April 1, 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. It was incorporated on January 3, 1977 and was initially know as Apple Computer, Inc. for 30 years until it was changed to Apple Inc. on January 9, 2007 in order to embrace a more diverse line of production to the market. Macintosh computer was one of the first products of Apple which was released in 1984 and was embraced in the education sector. This flagged progressive variations and greater innovation between the company’s products. Though the innovation and variations were not reached immediately, introduction of Macintosh Portable and electrical equipment such as digital cameras, speakers and television applications failed to gather much appeal in consumer market. This triggered Apple to re-examine their position in the marketplace and Apple linked itself with companies such as IBM, Motorola and Microsoft at some point hoping to increase its sales. This did not work for the company and thus they decided that reinvention of their original products was the best direction to pursue. During the reinvention, Macintosh was transformed to iMac and its success allowed the firm to cast a wider net to include other products and services such as Apple Store, iPod, iTunes, MacBook, iPhone and iPad. Regardless of its downfalls, Apple has become a strong market leader...

...of the PRI to the liberal democracy initiated by the election victory of the National Action Party, (PAN), candidate, Vicente Fox, in 2000, disrupted the status quo. Election gains by PAN Representatives disrupted long standing agreements between the cartels and government officials which led to the increased violence that exists today. This paper will explore the history of the relationship between the cartels and the PRI. The effect of the increased violence from the cartels inhibits the efforts of PAN party officials to establish a lasting democracy. Literature Review Research shows the three distinct stages in the development of a cohesive relationship between drug cartels and government in Mexico and identifies the political and economic conditions that have allowed the drug trade to thrive. Comparing Mexico with Columbia, another narcotics state, provides an additional case study on the subject matter and highlights actions utilized successfully. A review of the current political and military efforts to curtail corruption within the government provides a point of reference to facilitate an informed view of the current status. Research cannot predict the outcome of the battle for establishment of a lasting democracy, but seeks to suggest possible outcomes dependent on future elections and success of current political efforts. The following literature review traces the history of the drug trade from post revolutionary Mexico after the turn of...

Higgs Boson

...Boson What is Higgs Boson? What is Higgs Boson? Higgs Boson, the “God Particle” as coined by Leon Lederman back in 1993, is the particle that made up the Higgs Field. The Higgs Field is the energy field that permeated the entire universe, according to Dr. Peter Higgs. For example, our entire universe is covered with snowfield and we know that what makes up a snowfield is a snowflake. The same way it goes with the Higgs field; it is made up of Higgs Boson (Ellis, 2013). The Higgs Boson or the Higgs Particle is the very first elementary particle that does not spin at all; it has no electric charge, nor color charge. It was officially announced to the public last year (2012), 4th of the month of July at the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland. Their discovery was confirmed as the Higgs boson on March 14 this year, bringing to an end to a 50-year search. The discovery of the Higgs Boson is very important because it is said to be the missing link in our understanding of the universe, known as the Standard Model. It has also led to Professor Higgs becoming the only person ever to have a fundamental particle named after him. (Wilson, 2013).It was regarded as the “God Particle” before but many physicists did not like the way it was called. The Myth of Dracula

...The Myth of Dracula Jenny Martinez, Com 220 University of Phoenix Cole Chatterton January 9, 2008 THE MYTH OF DRACULA In October of 1999, a television series began that would run for approximately four and a half years. This series would again sate the American appetite for vampire stories begun by the likes of Bram Stoker, Anne Rice, Tanith Lee, and Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. The name of the series? Angel. The Premise? A vampire, originally named Angelus, had been cursed by a gypsy victim, with a soul, and could no longer kill humans. And if he fell in love with one, his dark side would return, which he feared more than anything else. The series featured many flashbacks to many centuries past because the vampires depicted were several centuries old. Not only that, but the vampire had true eye-appeal for the female audience. He was tall, dark, and handsome, just like almost every vampire in almost every myth America has ever heard (Angel site, 2004). But could such a creature truly exist? Although the vampire myth is present in many societies around the world through the centuries, there is a basis in science and fact, for this legend. To start off with, one of the most popular modern vampire stories, written in 1897, was Bram Stoker’s Dracula. To this day, it sets the bar for the modern vampire. Authors have a tendency to pull juicy pieces of many different tales together to patchwork them into something to hold the reader’s interest. ...

...ACE2006 Agricultural Economics Guidelines for poster assessment You must decide on a research hypothesis and then extract the data you need to test that hypothesis from the Farm Business Service (FBS) dataset. This dataset contains a large number of variables, including measurements of farm income, farm size, total costs, fixed and variable costs, total revenue, revenue from farming, subsidies, farm diversification and agri-environment payments. It also contains details of farm location, enterprise revenue and variable costs (and gross margins), farm type. It is up to you to decide what data you need to test your research hypothesis. For example, you might wish to examine the economies/diseconomies of scale theory, or you may wish to show how farm business income varies with region and within region by farm type (or size). You may wish to determine which farm types earn what % of total revenue from agri-environment payments or from diversification payments. You could examine the labour used on different farms, and correlate this with a measure of farm income. There are endless possibilities. You are asked to decide on a research hypothesis yourself and to work alone this is individual work so DO NOT work in groups. The poster that you will present your research hypothesis and data analysis is described below, this exercise is assessed and is worth 20% of the module mark. This document contains guidelines for extracting data, and the pro-forma which you...
