...is a CV? Curriculum Vitae: an outline of a person's educational and professional history, usually prepared for job application. Another name for a CV is a résumé. A CV is the most flexible and convenient way to make applications. It conveys your personal details in the way that presents you in the best possible light. A CV is a marketing document in which you are marketing something: yourself! You need to "sell" your skills, abilities, qualifications and experience to employers. It can be used to make multiple applications to employers in a specific career area. For this reason, many large graduate recruiters will not accept CVs and instead use their own application form. FACT: Often selectors read CVs outside working hours. They may have a pile of 50 CVs from which to select five interviewees. It's evening and they would rather be in the pub with friends. If your CV is hard work to read: unclear, badly laid out and containing irrelevant information, they will just just move on to the next CV. Treat the selector like a child eating a meal. Chop your CV up into easily digestible morsels (bullets, short paragraphs and note form) and give it a clear logical layout, with just the relevant information to make it easy for the selector to read. If you do this, you will have a much greater chance of interview. An application form is designed to bring out the essential information and personal qualities that the employer requires and does not allow you to gloss over your weaker...

...the Europass CV Before you start: Five basic principles for a good CV 1. Concentrate on the essentials • Employers generally spend less than one minute reading a CV before deciding to reject it, or to shortlist it for detailed consideration. If you fail to make the right impact, you missed your chance. • If applying for an advertised vacancy, always ensure that you comply with any application process entirely. The vacancy notice might specify: how to apply (CV, application form, online application), the length and/or format of the CV, whether a covering letter is required, etc. • Be brief: two A4 pages are usually more than enough, irrespective of your education or experience. Do not exceed three pages. If you hold a degree, include your secondary school qualifications only if relevant to the job in question. • Is your work experience limited? Describe your education and training first; highlight volunteering activities and placements or traineeships. 2. Be clear and concise • Use short sentences. Avoid clichés. Concentrate on the relevant aspects of your training and work experience. • Give specific examples. Quantify your achievements. • Update your CV as your experience develops. Don’t hesitate to remove old information if it does not add value for the position. 3. Always adapt your CV to suit the post you are applying for • Highlight your strengths according to the needs of the employer and focus on the skills that match the job. • Do not include...

...University November 16, 2014 CVS/PHARMACY SWOT ANALYSIS In 1963 the Consumer Value Store (CVS) was built for your health and beauty needs, in Lowell, Massachusetts by brothers Stanley and Sidney Goldstein and partner Ralph Hoagland. Through the next few years CVS started to grow and in 1967 pharmacies were being added to CVS’s in Warwick and Cumberland, Rhode Island (RI). After buying several small chain drug stores in the early 1970’s around the surrounding areas/states, CVS created small chain stores in shopping malls. In 1981, CVS broke ground on the Store Support Center in Woonsocket, RI. In 1988 CVS celebrated their 25th anniversary with a total of 750 stores. The 1990’s brought more stores in the new mid Atlantic, and Caremark set up in California. By the late 1990’s, CVS had stretched to 24 states totaling 4, 100 stores. 2001 was the year that CVS launched their ExtraCare Card Program, being the first national pharmacy retailer to launch a loyalty program. In 2005, CVS partnered up with MinuteClinic, and opened up three in their CVS/Pharmacy stores. The next year in 2006, MinuteClinic became the first retail clinic to be accredited by the Joint Commission. In 2008, CVS officially branched to California and Hawaii, by buying Long’s drugstores. In 2014, CVS announced they were deciding to stop the sale of tobacco, which was announced officially on September 3, 2014. With the end of tobacco sales, CVS’s mission statement makes more sense. King of Kings

...preparing a formal CV (“course of life”), you are already familiar with its function and the type of information needed from your applications for employment, college, or for that matter, medical school. Indeed, one of the primary functions of a CV is to provide a succinct chronicle of your past experiences and training. In a sense, a CV is a multi-purpose, personal application form for employment, educational opportunities, honors and awards, membership or participation in an organization. Learning to prepare a good CV now will aid you throughout your professional life. It is a living, not a static, document that needs to be continually updated as new experiences or accomplishments are completed. Despite its multiple purposes, your CV must be restructured and rewritten, or at least reviewed, for each specific purpose for which it is to be used. It might be entirely inappropriate to include a lengthy list of publications in a CV you are submitting as application for membership in a volunteer organization. On the other hand, it might be imperative to include this information, if not in the body, at least as an appendix, in a CV you are submitting to obtain an academic position. Some experts recommend maintaining two versions of your CV--one, a short summary of your training and experience and the other, a longer version with more detailed information about your publications and presentations. In general, however, no CV should be lengthy. No matter how many accomplishments...

5 Tips for Creating a Better Cv

...(and hopefully obvious) advice, like ‘don’t make any spelling or grammar mistakes’, ‘no waffling’ and ‘tidy format’, there are a few other ways you can create a great stand-out CV. The Daily Business Post asked Stephen Quinn, CEO of Jobbio, an Irish-owned online hiring platform, for some tips on creating a CV that will stand out to any hiring manager. “In an employer’s mind it’s not just about the success you have had leading up to this point, it’s about applying those experiences to potential future roles,” Quinn said. 1. Be Inventive “The future of recruitment can’t be word documents and bullet points. People have too much more to show and say; whether it’s campaigns they’ve worked on, blogs they’ve written or even their Twitter feed,” Quinn added. Companies tend to get huge amounts of unsolicited CVs, but when they’re actually actively hiring, that number jumps significantly. Making yourself stand out in the crowd is vital. Given the number of CVs a hiring manager is going to be looking at in one sitting, you won’t have very long to make yourself stand out — probably only about 20 seconds, Quinn said. 2. Be Positive Irish people typically are terrible at talking themselves up. It’s time to change that, said Quinn. “A lot of people are too modest in what they have achieved and what they can do. Irish people are naturally self deprecating. We should really be taking a page out of the book of our uber-positive neighbours in America where everything is awesome and uplifting...
