...short research paper. Therefore, you need come up with research questions or thesis. Think what interests you in what we cover in the class. For example, o If you are interested in outsourcing, your research questions could be “Is the US better off or worse off because of the outsourcing to China?”. Then you go do a research on it. Find academic articles or news articles that support and/or against outsourcing. o You do research by reading those articles that you found and then combine the information you find into a unified paper that represents your fully formed expertise. The key to the whole thing is "combining," so as you do your research, look for facts and information that go well together and help explain (or disagree with) each other o You may start your introduction and research questions. Then start a second paragraph with a short explanation of what is “outsourcing” and state facts such as how many dollars or how many jobs the US outsourced to China in 2010. o The paper must show an analysis of a real world outsourcing situation such as what are the problems with the outsourcing, why there are the problems, how to fix the problems, what the pros and cons of each solution are, and how it will affect consumers who buy imported goods at Walmart or exporters to China. o Warning: You should have one or two research questions or more depending on your interest. If you only have one research question...

...How are iPad useful for students? Name: Institution: Course: Tutor: Date: How are iPad useful for students? The first document I will use to get background information for my research paper is entitled “iPads on Practicum: Perspective of a Student-Teacher.” This source is relevant since it examines how modern technologies such as iPad can be used as educational tools in classrooms (Elbert, et al., 2013). It present important background information from research projects on how students and teachers can use iPads during lessons. The document has covered similar information that am using and it has used simple grammar. It is also update, having been published in 2013. The second document I intend to use is entitled “The iPad in education: uses, benefits, and challenges.” The document is relevant since it has demonstrated that introduction of iPads in schools will have positive impact on education. A survey has been done on how modern technologies have been adopted in schools over the years (Karsenti & Fievez, 2013). It has actually surveyed 302 teachers and 6,057 students and it was published in simple and understandable English. It presents materials that are relevant to my research and was published in 2013. A tablet computer may be connected to a keyboard with a wireless link or a USB port. Convertible notebook computers have an integrated keyboard that can be hidden by a swivel joint or slide joint, exposing only the screen for touch operation. Hybrids have a detachable keyboard so that the touch screen can be used as a stand-alone tablet. Booklets include dual-touchscreens, and can be used as a notebook by displaying a virtual keyboard in one of them. An early information tablet concept, named the Dynabook, was described by a Xerox scientist Alan C Kay, in his Aug 1972 paper: A Personal Computer for children of all Ages, the paper proposes a touch screen as a possible alternative means of input for the device. The first commercial portable electronic tablets appeared at the end of the 20th century. In 2010, Apple Inc. released the iPad which became the first mobile computer tablet to achieve worldwide commercial success. The iPad used technology...

...hooked up to cell phone now. The Apple I was a hit, and it is known as the first PC, but it definitely wasn't the last Apple device. The Apple I was only the beginning of a revolution that we still see in effect today. I see Apple products and devices every where I go especially school. Here at Voorhees Middle School every student is given an iPad to use and, that would not have been possible without the Apple I. Without the Apple I beginning the PC age, we could still be using computers the size of two rooms in order to learn. Apple has changed the way that we learn, and we use our iPads in class everyday in order to do homework, take notes, and study. Without Apple we would still be doing homework and notes on paper which would be a waste of paper and cost the school a good amount of money....

...iOS impact on Telecommunications NETW505 Project Plan Devry University Professor Shamin Bevil July 17, 2014 I chose to do my research paper on Apple iOS impact on telecommunications because it is one of the few companies that use its own software with its hardware. Apple Inc. was founded in 1977 and is headquartered in Cupertino, California. According to Yahoo Finance, Apple has 80,300 full-time employees. The company designs, manufactures, and markets mobile communication and media devices, personal computers, and portable digital music players all over the world. It also sells software, services, peripherals, networking solutions, and third-party digital content and applications related to its products. Some of its products are the iPhone, which is a smartphone that has a phone, music player, and Internet device; iPad, which consist of multi-purpose tablets that use Apple’s iOS Multi-Touch operating system; Mac, which consist of desktop and portable personal computers; and iPod, a line of portable digital music and media players; iCloud; and various applications and accessories. I intend to seek information for my research paper in Devry library database, the Internet, and by talking to others with Apple products. The research will focus on the requirements mandated by the course project, such as the overview and current status, characteristics, strategies, analysis of the company’s telecommunications, and recommendations...

...but still struggle with their ability to differentiate themselves through clear, concise, and interactive messaging delivered to each physician, while also dealing with the challenge of increasing their effectiveness. This need is motivated by a quickly changing industry landscape driven by healthcare reform (HCR) and an expanding web of strict government regulations. This includes gift ban laws, aggregate spend compliance/sunshine laws on both the state and the federal level, and diminishing physician availability because of HCR (i.e., 32 million new "covered" patients set to phase into the healthcare system). Pharmaceutical’s challenge to increase sales force effectiveness is becoming ever more real by the day. Now, many are seeing iPads as the means to that end. If medical sales representatives can’t get access to physicians, they aren’t likely to make any sales. By using similar tools and methods to their...

...Can the Use of iPads Change Healthcare? Critical care nursing has always been associated with advanced technology (Savel & Munro, 2011). We have gone from the hard drive cardiac monitors to touchscreen remote monitors. Medicine is now seeing advances into the technological world of mobile-hand held devices. Healthcare systems are researching and purchasing the tablet PC, i.e. Apple iPad. Our facility recently purchased several iPads to use the application Face time as a video translator for our American Sign Language clientele. The childlife department also has an iPad to use with our pediatric population for visual distraction during invasive procedure. The purpose of this paper is to explore the structure of data to information, knowledge and wisdom used in nursing informatics regarding the use of iPads in the healthcare arena and its advantages to patients, healthcare professionals and facilities. Data There is a variety of databases available for researching an array of topics. Walden University provides a plethora of resources (Walden University, 2012). When looking at the question to research for this assignment, I started with the database, CINAHL, and used keywords: iPad use and nursing. The original search did not come with useful articles. The search was narrowed to iPad and patient, providing two pages of articles. The next database used and provided more useful articles was Google Scholar. The keywords used were iPad use in healthcare, iPad use and patient’s...

As a competitor in the mobile food industry that caters to people on the move who do not have the time for a sit down meal, we have to focus on two specifics aside from a desirable food product: awareness for the customer to know where our trucks are going to be and keeping the line in constant motion. Within this report, I have included three different technological advances that have become widely used in the last five years that should be implemented to advance our organization to the forefront of the canteen business. All three advances are around five years in age, but have made dramatic progressions in their usefulness and purpose over the course of their existence. With everyone on the go, the need to have access to information in almost real time is paramount in this age. Social media plays a...

...than educate the human individual it also motivates the student to learn. I chose to review the article on the pros and cons of Ipads in the classroom. There was a study that was conducted at the University of Notre Dame for seven weeks by Professor Corey Angst. These students used the Ipad devices for reading and other course related work. The original concept was to use the Ipad as a e-reader and to replace the actual textbook. In the case study though, Angst found that the Ipad could be used as an aggregation tool. Students that were working on a project could brainstorm and put their thoughts down in the tablet and then save the work in a online storage site. The next time the group got together, all students had access to the information. Another outstanding feature is that because they all had the same device, there would not be any technical issues or compatibility problems. (Forbes.com) During the time of the surveys done throughout the semester, most of the students said the iPads helped them to organize their schedules. They said were able to 1. take the initiative to explore additional course topics 2. help manage their time, 3. provided new functions/tools for learning, 4. increased their learning 5. and made their courses more interesting. I thought it was interesting that they students also used the Ipads to study other courses and to also use the device for leisure reading though they were not instructed to do so. On the other side...

...When Apple released the iPad 2 they were trying to satisfy customers’ needs and wants by creating customer value. Do consumers really need an iPad 2, if so why? Why do consumers want an iPad 2? We believe there are many needs an iPad 2 is capable of filling. For example, the Generation X and early Y market consist of many professionals who need a portable device to carry with them to work or meetings. The iPad 2 fills this need by being only 1.33 pounds, with dimensions of 9.50 inches x 7.31 inches x 0.34 inches. This incredibly thin and light iPad design, 10-hour battery life, and convenient wireless connectivity make iPad your mobile office on the go. Attend or host online meetings with clients, share agendas, and make video calls with colleagues. Whether you use the built-in Wi-Fi or choose a model with 3G connectivity, iPad gives you immediate access to all your important files. And with easy-to-use business apps on iPad, you can access Microsoft Office and iWork files, organize and manage documents, and annotate PDFs on the fly. Satisfying your everyday business needs. Another need the iPad 2 fulfills is the need of college students, during and in between classes. Not everyone wants to carry a heavy laptop and charger around with them all day during classes. The iPad fulfills this need, not only by being portable and lightweight but with apps specifically for education. Apple’s iTunes U is home to more than 350,000 free lectures, videos, books, and podcasts from learning...

... EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Management Information Systems allow companies to remain competitive in today’s fast-paced world and especially when conducting business on the Internet. Organizations must adapt to technological advances and innovations to keep pace with today’s rapidly changing environment (Baltzan, 2012). Every day there is some type of new technology, new internet site, new software or hardware program that someone is learning how to use. Apple, being a major technology company needs to keep up with these advances to keep their customers happy. This paper focuses on Apple, Inc., its competitive advantage and the challenges Apple faces to stay in the top of consumer reports. Data, information, business intelligence and knowledge are discussed and how they are relevant to the production of Apple products. Knowledge cannot be acquired until data, information and business intelligence are researched. The paper then goes on to discuss Porter’s Five Forces Model and how it is applied to Apple, Inc. and its products. Apple has lowered the threat of substitute products by including a great variety of features on all of their products. Since the original iPhone's release about four years ago, the threat of substitute products or services has greatly decreased. Apple has managed to produce a device that incorporates so many different functions and operations there is no need for additional products. Keeping up with technology and the needs and demands of society is key in...
