H Government Environmental Awareness It is commonly believed that there is no real association between the health of a person and the environment. However, there is really a strong association between the two. It is really the healthier the environment, the larger the benefits, health wise. Our health is greatly influenced by our environment, however, when we influence the environment, we put our health at risk .To understand a healthy environment, we must understand the environment. Our environment is very fragile. Many off us do not realize how fragile it is, we just take it for granted. The preservation of the environment is really vital to our lives and those of others.

...interrupted the beauty of nature. Beer cans, plastic bags, and McDonald’s® wrappers are dispersed throughout the environment. Trash is tucked away deep into the crevices of cities, forests, fields, and oceans. Littering affects not only the view of the beautiful environment, but it also affects animals, water systems, and plant life. The consequences of littering diminish the quality of life for all organisms in the ecosystem, and it must be stopped. Humans tend to be wasteful by nature. Almost everyone has left garbage outside, or thrown something out the window. Believe it or not, biodegradable substances such as orange peels, apple cores, and banana peels are all considered littering. While littering seems commonplace, it is disrespectful to the environment. Animals are injured, water sources are contaminated, and toxins are continually recycled into the ecosystem. State governments have been hard at work trying to find measures to decrease the amount of waste being thrown into our world. The real question is why do people continue to litter? The Scottish government provides people answers about the common issue of littering. According to the Scottish Falkirk Council, people have come up with many excuses to explain why littering is acceptable for humans. Based on data collected and surveys, various reasons to continue practicing this habit are, “Littering keeps someone in a job, there aren’t enough garbage bins, and one person can’t make a difference” (Litter Facts)...

The Lorax Research Paper

...In the movie, The Lorax, it demonstrates that little acts such as littering can affect the environment significantly. Although Santa Clara County has not been exposed to the extent of harm viewed in The Lorax, it is still possible to make the environment reach that level of harm. Three issues for pollution are littering, chopping down trees, and destroying natural habitats. One issue that still occurs in the county is littering. People will tend to be lazy and just toss their trash on the street rather than simply throwing it in the trash can. This problem can result in Earth being a polluted environment. Dumping waste into the ocean can be hazardous to animals and creatures that live in the sea. With trash in the ocean, there will most likely be a decrease in the sea animal population due to the animals suffocating from plastic bags or mistake litter as food, which will end up being difficult for them to ingest and they will become ill or die. Another risk from littering is polluting water. Littering has the ability to pollute our clean, drinking water and makes the water...

...litter? The Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 defines litter as any solid or liquid domestic or commercial refuse, debris or rubbish and, without limiting the generality of the above, includes any glass, metal, cigarette butts, paper, fabric, wood, food, abandoned vehicle parts, construction and demolition material, garden remnants and clippings, soil, sand or rocks, and any other material, substance or thing deposited in or on a place if its size, shape, nature or volume makes the place where it was deposited disorderly or detrimentally affects the proper use of that place, deposited in or on a place, whether or not it has any value when or after being deposited in or on the place. Larger hazardous items such as tires, appliances, electronics and large industrial containers are often dumped in isolated locations, such as National Forests and other public land. It is a human impact on the environment and is a serious environmental issue in many countries. Litter can exist in the environment for long periods of time before degrading and be transported large distances into the world's oceans. Litter can affect quality of life. Cigarette butts are the most littered item in the world, with 4.5 trillion discarded annually. The cellulose acetate butts are not biodegradable and, as a result, their chemical decomposition can take many decades. Littering is a critical environmental issue in our surrounding. Why Do People Litter?

...Why do people litter? There are many reasons given as to why this might be. They have all sorts of excuses for littering. They can’t be bothered or are too lazy to find a bin and have no sense of pride in their community. And the worst reason they came out with this statement everybody does it! How many of these reasons or excuses have you heard? Litter is everyone’s problem, and there is never an excuse! According to Longman Dictionary, the word detrimental is causing harm or damage and littering can be defined as the waste of paper, cans, bottles, garbage and even chemicals so as to people have thrown away and left on the ground in a public place. The broadly accepted description of litter is ‘waste in the wrong place caused by human agency’. So who does the littering? Ignorant, lazy, immature, cowards are the list of people who do it in my opinion. Based to a litter statistics I have read in the net stated that most of littering occurs in transport sites, smoking areas and market sites. Chewing gum is a very constant form of litter as it sticks to the footpaths and roads and is very hard, and expensive, to remove it. And the most shocking statement is that men are tend to litter more than women and women usually use bins more than men. Even, our school children are more likely to be the culprit of littering than other people. In my point of view littering is becoming a habit among Malaysian. It has flattering an eye sore to the community and society. Far too often when we...

Littering

...Littering Fatima Ahsan The topic of littering has been discussed for many years. Everyday people see littering either occurring or doing it themselves. People see it on highways, parks, and even their own lawns. Littering is also found all over the world, even the cleanest countries. People should not litter. One reason is that it can harm the environment. This is because the chemicals can seep into the soil. For example, when oil is dumped, then it affects the plant life. Critics argue that it doesn’t harm the environment, but they are wrong because dumped oil really does affect plant life. That it can harm the environment is one reason, but there are many more. Another reason is that it can deplete the aesthetic value of property. This is because trash makes property look less appealing. For example, when trash covers a state park, then less people would want to go there. Critics argue that littering does not deplete the aesthetic value of property, but they are wrong because littering does make a property look less appealing. That littering can deplete the aesthetic value of property is another reason, but there are still many more. A final reason is that it can cost people money. This is because sanitation workers work for the government which pays them with our tax money. For example, when the highway is covered with trash, sanitation workers are called to clean it up. Then they are paid with our tax money. Another example is that when...

Water pollutant such as sewage can kill aquatic organisms, and it can affect the health of humans e.g= Humans can serious illnesses due to bacteria and virus present in the sewage. Fertilisers can also damage the aquatic organisms and ecosystem. 3: Air pollution Air pollution Burning fossil fuels and toxic gases, which are produced mostly by factories causes pollution to the air which can damage our environment. Carbon monoxide can produce poisonous gas, which is in the air, as a result of this it can kill crops, and cause humans to get more ill. Sulphur dioxide which contributes to acid rains can damage lichens as a result of this it can stop them from growing. Also burning fossil fuels can produce carbon monoxide, which contributes to global warming. Air pollution can destroy our environment, which means there is going to be less trees, less habitat for insects and animals 4: Driving a car By humans driving a car, they are more likely to damage the environment. ...Research Paper Vehicle users who throw garbage out of the car windows exhibit no respect for themselves and for the environment. Submitted to Prof. Saima Bhaur 13th June, 2013 Acknowledgement It was a interesting and learning experience of doing this research. We would like to thanks specially to our Professor Saima Bhaur for giving her valuable suggestions and help while doing this research. We would like to thanks all the students who have filled the questionnaire. We are also thankful to the university for providing us great opportunity for doing this research. Finally we would like to thanks to our friends for their support. Abstract This is very important to know the effects of littering and garbage throwing out of cars. Why people do this? They are just careless about everything. They even do not know that throwing trash harms our environment and it is also harmful for the animals too. There are too many bad effects. The people who do this have no respect at all. This can be habitual. We have noticed that teenagers throw trash out of cars just for fun. They usually enjoy doing this. To know about all this we have conducted a quantitative research. We have conducted a survey consisting of questionnaire. Our sample size was fifteen. We have asked nine close ended questions relating to this problem to gather data. One question was open ended in which we have noticed different thinking about this issue. After doing all this research we have...

What Is Littering Wrong

...The renovation of o Our beautiful school campus has been defaced by many disrespectful students who continue to litter on our campus. The principal’s way of dealing with this problem is to take away our after school activity. I do agree that there is a big littering issue because littering, affects this world in so many different ways, it is just flat out wrong; I also agree that something needs to be done and a punishment given that is current with littering issue on campus and imposed on those students where the punishment is needed , just not with this new decision. This punishment is misguided; it doesn't deal with everyone in the student body. Yes, I do think littering is wrong there is no way that it wouldn't be. Littering is wrong...

Littering

...LITTERING The problem of littering in our cities and towns is getting worse. Litter consists of waste product such as containers, papers, wrappers which have been disposed of without consent. Litter can also be used as a verb. To litter means to throw (often man-made) objects onto the ground and leave them unremoved, as opposed to disposing of them properly. It is a human impact on the environment and is a serious environmental issue in many countries. Litter can exist in the environment for long periods of time before degrading and be transported large distances into the world's oceans. Litter can affect quality of life. Cigarette butts are the most littered item in the world. The cellulose acetate butts are not biodegradable and, as a result, their chemical decomposition can take many decades. Litter is “carelessly discarded refuse ,” most commonly found on the ground. It can be hazardous, like shards of broken glass, or non-hazardous, like a piece of hair. Because some trash items seem harmless, there is controversy about what should technically be called “litter.” Common types of litter is the amount of trash littered each year is getting closer every year to the amount of trash that was actually properly disposed of and billions of dollars have been spent cleaning it up and remedying the environmental problems caused by litter. The most common type of litter is cigarette butts, carelessly flicked onto the ground by smokers. What the people guilty of these...

Why Are Cigarette Butts Littered?

...Why are cigarette butts littered? In the article, Whose butt is it? Tobacco industry research about smokers and cigarette butt waste, the psychology of a smoker littering the butt of a cigarette was research looked at. There had been previously done focus groups by the tobacco industry about this subject because the industry had realized that the litter was bad for business. What they found was that people littered because it was so common place that they found it to be almost acceptable. Some people in the study even said that putting a cigarette out on the ground was “conscientious” because it “eliminated the risk of fires.” Others didn’t believe or acknowledge that there was an environmental concern in tossing the butt on sidewalks or...

...water and moisture drew disease carrying mosquitos to the area. Extreme weather will result from increased rain and moisture in the air from the heat. The ice caps will also continue to melt causing the ocean levels to rise substantially. We will likely see more occurrences of natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina. These are the four main ways that climate change will affect us based on the article. Furthering this analysis, I am now going to relate the issue of climate change with human ecology, environmental justice, globalization, and global stratification. Human Ecology is the study of the relationship between humans and their natural, social, and built environments. In regards to climate change, a human and their environment can be negatively affected. As we well know, disasters can happen in the environment in which we live. This was clearly demonstrated in the recent typhoon that hit the Philippines, and numerous hurricanes that have hit the United States in past and recent years. More locally here in Indiana, we have experienced extreme droughts to where the crops were destroyed...

Development of Tourism Cause Effect

...POLLUTION Tourism can cause the same forms of pollution as any other industry: air emissions, noise, solid waste and littering, releases of sewage, oil and chemicals, even architectural/visual pollution. Air pollution and noise Transport by air, road, and rail is continuously increasing in response to the rising numbe reported that the number of international air passengers worldwide rose from 88 million in 1972 to 344 million in 1994. One consequence of this increase in air transport is that tourism now accounts for more than 60% of air travel and is therefore responsible for an important share of air emissions. One study estimated that a single transatlantic return flight emits almost half the CO2 emissions produced by all other sources (lighting, heating, car use, etc.) consumed by an average person yearly. (Mayer Hillman, Town & Country Planning magazine, September 1996. Source: MFOE ). Transport emissions and emissions from energy production and use are linked to acid rain, global warming and photochemical pollution. Air pollution from tourist transportation has impacts on the global level, especially from carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions related to transportation energy use. And it can contribute to severe local air pollution. Some of these impacts are quite specific to tourist activities. For example, especially in very hot or cold countries, tour buses often leave their motors running for hours while the tourists go out for an excursion because they want to return...

Short Story Littering

...SUPERHERO STORY It was the most beautiful morning in sunsweet town...NOT! The birds have woke Lili up through the night. Lili didn’t only have a terrible sleep that night but she was also really sick. She went out last night and when she came back, she was sick because of the amount of littering outside. Yet as always, Lili woke up with a bright smile on her face. There was only one thing that would make Lili feel miserable during the day. It was littering. Littering was like poison to Lili. Whenever Lili sees someone littering, she would stomp her feet all the way back home and feel the tear drops run down her cheeks. The amount of tissues she used when she saw someone litter was equivalent to the amount of garbage on america’s streets. That’s how sad she was when she saw someone litter. Lili woke up gently and headed to the bathroom to wash her face. In fact, all she had to do was grab the clothing hanger that hung on a piece of very thick string and push a little to get to the bathroom downstairs. She grabbed the clothing hanger tight and pushed a little. It took her 5 seconds to decide what hand position she should go in, but it only took her a moment to realize that...

Cons Of Hunting Research Paper

...Why must humans remain dominant over nature? Man takes so many things from nature and in return gives nothing. People disrespect nature with killing, global warming, and littering, which causes nature to be at a disadvantage.  Hunting for game or sport is wrong. The idea of hunting is to make every part of the animal useful. Man causes nature to be at risk through hunting. It is understandable to hunt an animal and eat the meat from the animal, but the "Pros and Cons of Hunting" article says that "Some hunters will kill an animal and not even eat the meat" and that is wrong, it is cruel. During hunting, animals may experience pain and suffering, as if their life is nothing to us. "Pros and Cons of Hunting" also says that "Another con of hunting...
