Accommodation

The earlier you make your request, the more time we will have to make the selection of a suitable option. In Thessaloniki the apartment rental, located near the university (2 rooms, kitchen, hall and bathroom) is worth approximately 250 Euros per month. Reflection on My Personal Values

...As I considered my personal values and the values taken into consideration in the simulations, I concluded that my personal value system had not changed but had expanded. Before performing the simulations, my personal value system consisted of values such as integrity, respect, trust, loyalty, and quality relationships. The new values that I have added to my value system are time and confidentiality. In the following sections, I will discuss my values on time, confidentiality, and loyalty – an existing value. Valuing Time Time has become one of my values because everything that I do and every decision that I make depends upon how I allocate my time to perform and complete my tasks. I also consider time to be an important value because I must consider it when I create and plan schedules to show when project assignments are to be completed. And, time plays an important role on my job when I have to set up conference calls with out-of-state vendors or customers to finalize decisions and job assignments. Valuing Confidentiality Confidentiality has become one of my values because it is important for me to be aware of how I handle confidential information. Confidentiality is very important in my line of work because many of my job assignments involve classified information that is authorized for only certain individuals to handle. Confidentiality is also crucial because I must always be mindful of whom I discuss my job responsibilities with, conceal classified...

Examining Social Work Values and My Personal Values and Development

...EXAMINING SOCIAL WORK VALUES AND MY PERSONAL VALUES AND DEVELOPMENT In my essay I will be looking at what social work and values are. Due to the essay 1500 words constraint I look at the arguments for and against 1 of (Biestek 1961) 7 traditional values and then look at 1 of the new values before looking at a radical social work value. Secondly, I will re-evaluate my personal values and experiences to see how they relate to past and current social work values. Thirdly, I will identify the origin and development of my personal values, and look at the main influences and contributing factors. I will then look at the key areas of my personal values and attitudes that need further development as I progress and acquire new skills and knowledge in my course. I will conclude by highlighting and stressing the importance of values and self-awareness in working towards 'knowing and owning my fears, aspirations and values' (Antony, 1996). Social work is a human profession that promotes social changes, problem solving in human relationships and the empowerment and liberation of people to enhance well-being. Utilising theories of human behaviour and social systems, social work intervenes at the points where people interact with their environments. Principles of human rights and social justice are fundamental to social work (BASW 2001) and values in social work are the principles, beliefs, missions or philosophies of an individual, society or an institution that have been elaborated to...

We all have a set of values that determines our decisions, and guides our lives. Just as individuals subscribe to values, so do organizations. These organizational values make-up the organization and becomes a part of their culture. Whether these values are good or bad, the organization will take on these behaviors and actions. Ethics & Morals

...Ethics and Values in a Global Setting Jason Bokesch CMGT530 March 22, 2010 John Zupan Ethics and Values in a Global Setting This week we were asked to write a paper examining how we reconcile our personal, professional, and cultural values, and our ethics in a global setting. Personal values are individual beliefs that determine individual decision making. These values are not only inherited from our parents, but we also modify them as we experience different events in life. Personal values affect our attitudes toward people, cultures, and society. Professional values are our attitudes toward work, our conduct at work, how we are rewarded, and expectations of our employers. These values ultimately determine who will work for, how hard we will work for them, what we will work for and how we interact with our coworkers. Each group, society, and culture has their own set of beliefs and norms about what is right and wrong, just, or unjust. Ethics are defined as a set of values that determines an individual’s conduct when it comes to making sound decisions regarding what is right and what is wrong. Now that we have looked at how each term is defined, we need to examine today’s global setting in three different terms: cultural differences, economic conditions, and family backgrounds. Now more than ever, there are greater cultural differences in all areas of life. It used to be that cultures were divided by things such as sections of a town, positions in a company, type of company...

Personal Values and Ethical Standards

...Personal Values and Ethical Standards Paper Each person has different personal values and developed ethical standards. My personal values and ethics have shaped my life to be what it is today. Values refer to his or her own personal standards of what he or she believes to be right, or wrong. Ethics refers to a structure set of fundementals that provide a structure for what is considered to be the appropriate conduct in any groups. A "code of ethics" is the written document that represents the agreed upon principals for a particular group. I started gaining values from childhood as I watched those most closely related to me such as my father and step mother. As I grew older I gained values through outside resources such as school, church, or even from my surrounding neighbors I came in to contact within my day-to-day life. I was raised by parents who were old enough to be my grandparents and in the South there were social values and behaviors still considered to be “old fashioned.” I learn to treat a people with manners, automatic respect, and an attitude of strong work ethics. Some of my earliest memories were of how my father went to work five days a week and never missed a day that I can remember. I also recollect how my step mother taught me so many skills and values that she thought were important for a young lady to learn such as how to cook a home made meal, clean a house, and speak to others with manners. My stepmother always encouraged me to be willing to help those...

My ethics and personal belief are my morals that reflect and define the person that I am today. The decision and everyday choices that I make on a daily basis should be consistent with my integrity and respect towards others. When I treat people as well as others with respect and dignity while holding me accountable to the principals that I keep will ensure that I treat others, as I want to be treated (the golden rule). My preferred ethical lens is the Rights lens-responsibility and results lens, where my core values are autonomy and rationality/sensibility along with my classic values temperance and prudence. My strengths are that I seek self -knowledge and free will, as well as analyzing problems with my reason and experience, along with fulfilling duties while creating the greatest good. With these, I can use them in my community to be a good role model for others as well as my kids. My blind spot is belief that motive justifies method or your own good is good enough. I have a meeting scheduled with senior management at the start of the business day to propose a new project. The project will generate new revenue for the organization. I am two blocks from the office, and the meeting starts in five minutes. As I approach an intersection, I see the traffic light change from green to yellow. Two cars in front of me pass through the traffic light while it is yellow. I know I will not be able to traverse the intersection before the traffic light changes to red. No other vehicles appear to be crossing the intersection. What do I do? What would you do? Every day one faces decisions resembling the one presented in one’s personal and professional lives. Often one has little or no time to deliberate the alternatives. How does one analyze the available choices and make a decision? What guides the decisions? – Personal ethics. Ethics can be described as a set of values that guide individual or group conduct. One’s “set of values” is derived from one’s personal experience, one’s culture, and one’s workplace (Taft, 2007). Thus, personal, cultural, and organizational values influence one’s decision making process. Types of Values Personal values originate from one’s background...
