...Part 1 Universal Studios I chose Universal studios as the corporation to do this paper on. One of the main reasons is that when my kids were younger we went there every year for our vacation. My kids and I have some very fond memories going there. The other reason was that the entire family could enjoy themselves and not put a serious dent in the finances. Also everything was theme based, mostly on movies. Even an adult could feel young and carefree again. The tradition has not changed within our family; the group has only gotten bigger with the addition of grandkids. It is such a joy to see them having fun and interacting with the characters at the park. The universal film manufacturing company was founded on April 30, 1912 in New York. The new universal studios is a vertically integrated company, with movie production, distribution and exhibition venues. With the passage of time universal studios went from a single entity to a huge conglomerate and now is a subsidiary of NBC. They are known now as NBCUniversal, Inc. In the early years, universal had a “clean picture” policy. However, by April 1927 they considered it to be a mistake as “unclean pictures” from other studios were generating more profit while Universal was losing money. A Universal studio operates five major locations around the world. They have distribution and corporate offices in New York, universal studios Hollywood California, universal studios Orlando Florida, universal studios Osaka japan, and universal...

...report Implementation of new digital audio workstation - FL Studio On October 19, 2007, I proposed an Implementation of new digital audio workstation - FL Studio. After your approval of my project, we have encountered a couple problems but other than that everything is going well and all the work will be done by November 19, 2007. This memo reports the progress report, the problem we have encountered and the conclusions. Background As you know, FL Studio is a digital audio workstation which can record, mix, create, and edit sounds. It has a sequencer that makes it possible to create beats from patterns, which is the foundation of any track. The program currently used by the firm is fairly complicated and hard to use. This results in poor production. By using FL studio, we can create exact tracks which we intend to make. In my research I found that our competition has increased. Other similar companies have also upgraded their software to assist them in meeting their clients’ demands. I however, found out that none of them are using this software. This software is very helpful for our music industry and can give us an upper hand against our competitors. Project Progress 1. What we have researched is our customer satisfaction; we have found a way to compete with other companies and have so far succeeded in our process. 2. With many meetings we have gathered information and have made some changes to FL Studios. 3. We worked as a team to implement the new digital...

...gradual shift of administrative offices of large oil industry organizations and the like, which shows the current expansion and the expectation of prosperity for the local economy leveraged by good prospects for oil exploration and production of the Campos basin. Due to this growth, Macaé is classified as one of the six best cities for employment and business in Brazil, with a considerable population of medium/high purchasing power. This combined with the low speed installation of business related to the well-being of people in the city (entertainment, health, leisure, etc) clearly points to many business opportunities. The business proposal described herein is to build a Center for Monitored Physical Exercise named: “ATTITUDE PILATES STUDIO”; based on the PILATES method, which combines improvements in the body esthetic while fixing postural problems. It is a method already widespread in large centers, but it will be a pioneer in Macaé. The joint venture will offer innovative inherent method and high quality...

...importance to Arundel that a number of films and a price per film are agreed upon before either Arundel or the studio knows which films would generate the option of a sequel. If not, once production starts the studio would inevitably have more information on the likeliness that a sequel would be possible. This would put Arundel at a disadvantage, because they would then have to negotiate the price for sequel rights on each film produced while knowing much less than the production studio about the film. For example, if the studio knew that obtaining the rights for the literary work the first movie is based upon took a lot of haggling and work, and that the script has gone through fifteen revisions with six different writers, then the studio may be keen to get rid of the sequel rights. While a film’s profitability is always a gamble, there are often early signs such as these that a movie is going to be a jumbled mess that cost the studio way too much money to produce in the first place. These films tend to do poorly in the box office and not get sequels. Without a prior agreement, the studio could thus try to sell Arundel options for the less-successful properties and keep the potentially more lucrative ones for itself. While Arundel’s financing does help the studio fund its work, if the studio knows they have a hit and the sequel will likely be very profitable, the studio would be more willing...

...The studio system was the first of three production systems in Hollywood and was a major reason for the success of “classic Hollywood”. This system kept the biggest studios in control of the movies that they produced and how they were distributed because they owned both their production companies and their theater chains. Unfortunately, what comes up must come down and this held true for the studio system. The golden age of Hollywood was controlled by a small number of studios that were split into two groups, “The Big Five” and “The Little Three”. “The Big Five” consisted of the major studios Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, MGM, Paramount and RKO. “The Little Three” minor studios consisted of United Artists, Columbia and Universal. The...

...well . . . professional? There are a number of reasons, including high quality microphones, pre-amps, an experienced engineer and a well-designed studio space. But one of the single most important elements in a great-sounding, professional recording is the performance of the session musicians. There is a reason that the job of the session musician exists. It’s these musicians whose talent and studio experience contribute in a major way to the polished sound of a recording. Because there are different rules that apply when you’re recording an artist demo, I’m going to limit the scope of this article specifically to songwriting demos. Shouldn’t I Be Able To Do This Myself? While I am a big proponent of wearing as many hats as you can in your musical career, there are certain areas where it makes much better sense to rely on experts. First of all, it’s extremely important that you take ego out of the equation. There is no shame in having someone else play on your demo. Remember that a songwriting demo is supposed to put your song in the best possible light in order to “sell” it to prospective artists or place it in films and TV shows; it is not supposed to be proof of your studio musicianship. Recording your instrument in the studio requires an entirely different skill set than playing live. For lack of a better description, studio recording is more like music surgery than a musical performance. While you might be comfortable playing guitar in your living room or even on a stage...

...The studio techniques of the Beatles: how four lads from Liverpool and a radio producer from the BBC changed sound recording forever. The Beatle’s music has been recognized as influential and innovative in many ways, none more so than their innovations and experiments in the studio and with sound recording with help of George Martin. This essay will discuss the studio techniques of the Beatles and how they changed the course of sound recording forever. The Beatles started to experiment in their recording techniques as early as 1964, having achieved incredible commercial, financial and critical success by this stage they were then essentially given free range in the recording studio, this gave them the unique opportunity for experimentation. With the help of George Martin that’s exactly what they did. Prior to the nineteen sixties and the Beatle’s experiments in the studio, sound recording was not a fully refined art that is there were none of the widely used seemingly natural conventions we are familiar with today. A good example of this is the 1966 song Taxman where drums are all panned to left; this might seem like nothing out of the ordinary now but in that time were defining the nature of sound recording. Much of the Beatle’s enthusiasm and desire to create new sound-scapes stemmed from their recreational drug use in particular trying to re-create sonically and lyrically their experiences of the drug LSD. This of course had to do with changing social order, the emergence...

II. Dole has exclusive relationships with its farmers/suppliers: What are the advantages and disadvantages of this type of relationship for the farmers and for Dole? R= * Advantages: In my opinion in this case for the farmers is a pretty good idea cause they will “sell” an important brand, so they will get a lot of money. Because everyone’s know that is good quality even good taste. * Disadvantages: My point of view, for the farmers depends about the product, I mean one product Dolo will sell a little bit expensive...

...Focus Reflection & Evaluation Zamzam Ali The focus of my work in Unit 3 studio arts was Transformation. I refined my ideas in Unit 4 by focusing specifically on the transformation that occurs in individuals emotionally, including both aspects of outwardly emotion as well as those hidden internally. Although originally I was drawn to the subject matter of Emotions (mostly those shown through facial expressions and body language) by expanding and looking deeper into it all together I was able to be exposed and influenced by a range of other aspects that may not have been in my line of vision. By adopting the subject matter of Time it has allowed me to have a different outlook and to be influenced by socio-cultural factors such as the medias influence in everyday life and functioning, to the role of women, acceptable and non acceptable behaviours and forms of outlets that was once seen as acts against morality and obedience yet through time and growth of a new generation it has became widely accepted. Potential directions have contributed greatly to the development of my final art works. Initially I had the desire to create a sculpture using wire therefore I had multiple trials using different wire thickness as well as sizes however it presumed to be extremely hard to handle and heavily time consuming. Upon researching different art methods and techniques I came across a new form of pencil drawing called ‘gesture drawing.’ A gesture drawing is basically a quick drawing...

...The collapse of 38 Studios is one of the biggest political and economic scandals that has faced Rhode Island in recent years. According to many, the deal was doomed to fail from the start and could have been avoided if not for the blind ambition and heedlessness of state officials. The start-up company, headed by baseball star Curt Schilling, came to state officials promising hundreds of jobs for Rhode Islanders and speedy returns on their investment but were ultimately unable to fulfill these promises. If the people who secured this deal had paid attention to the facts about company and heeded careful warnings from the many professionals who advised against 38 Studios would have never been able to put Rhode Island taxpayers on the hook for $90 million. Curt Schilling is a household name in the baseball world and the pitcher who helped the Red Sox clench their first World Series title in 86 years. He was also an avid video game player who was interested in getting into the video game industry after his baseball career ended. Schilling first talked about starting a computer and video game production company in 2005 and started the company in 2006 out of an office space in Maynard, Massachusetts with his wife's uncle, CEO Brett Close, and 6 of his gamer friends. The company was named Green Monster Games, a name that Schilling insisted was not inspired by the Green Monster of Fenway Park. He brought in fantasy author R. A. Salvatore to help create his vision of a fantasy video...
