3.2: Identify barriers to communication.
There are many different barriers that may affect an individual to communicate such as:
Environmental Barriers: noise, lack of space, heat, lighting and interruptions.
Disability – e.g. hearing loss, impaired vision, mobility problems or speech impairment can affect the individual from communicating effectively.
Cultural differences – different cultures have different beliefs, e.g. Islam; in Islam a female can’t touch a male or make any eye contact. Someone from another culture may find this rude or they may think they are not interested in what they are saying.
Language – it is important to speak and understand the language to make the communication effective and to avoid any misunderstanding between
