...Reflection for ISLLC Standard Two Grand Canyon University EDA-534 July 9, 2014 My partner and myself struggled with the correct format for unwrapping standard 1 of the ISLLC but felt confident after it was summited. Then we received our grade and found out we did not understand the format as well as we thought. We worked collaborate and effectively to understand our misconception on the assignment format. I sort other examples to help clarify what we needed to know. As I found additional information to help us I emailed my partner back and forth. We would also go on line together and made adjustments to the information and format and continuously make modification to our template. We went through several template I think this time it was about 8 trials until we came up with a template that we both agreed upon. It did get a little frustrating sometimes but we both worked very hard to rectify any mistakes we made the last time so not to make any new ones this time. Walker Grand Canyon University: EDA 534 January 11, 2012 The initial collaborative learning community assignment was the unwrapping of ISLLC standard number one. A multiplicity of issues was anticipated in the beginning as this was a group assignment. Typically, group assignments can be challenging due to the varying opinions of the group’s membership. In reality, only two problems arose during the unwrapping process. The first problem surfaced in the beginning of the week. Several members of the group were unsure of how to complete the assignment. A discussion took place and each member contributed thoughts about what the assignment required and how it should be completed. The second problem was the division of work. Each of the ISLLC standards consists of four facets: knowledge, skills, enduring understandings and essential questions. There are five members in the yellow group. One group member quickly assumed the leadership role and created a rotating schedule. The schedule allows each person to tackle a different facet of the standards each week. The schedule also allows each person to compile the assignments and submit them. This was a very equitable way to split the work and all group members agreed to follow the schedule. This was my first experience completing an on-line group project, and it was not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. Some of us were at a slight disadvantage with the project being assigned over the holiday which caused some group members unable to contribute much to the project. However, other members contributed more and we were able to successfully complete the assignment. What amazed me was how each of us had our own individual contributions that truly added to the finished product. When I submitted my portion of the assignment, I thought it was well done, but as each team member added his or her own input, I realized I had missed some things. The additions enhanced the meaning of the standard and aided in successful completion and met the standards set forth by the rubric. Needless to say, I am quite pleased with my group! ...Process Reflection for Standard 5 Assignment As part of EDA-534, Educational Administration Foundation and Framework, we were assigned the task of analyzing standard five of the ISLLC 2008 standards. My group was able to develop a template by using prior knowledge and skills specific to the task, through enduring understanding, completion of essential questions, and CLC participation related to the standard. Group assignments give students experience for real life situations and experiences for later employment. While completing group assignments, there is always going to be challenges such as including everyone and their ideas, poor group leadership, and ignoring or ridiculing others and their contributions. Our template was a collaborative effort, we were able to participate in discussions, search for data, and trade that data with the other group members because of our strong leadership. One group member created a template that allowed the other group members to insert their own original ideas into the sections. My group creates two different templates and I revise, combine, and add additional enduring understandings and essential questions to finalize the project. The first issue to overcome was just figuring out who was in our group, and somehow communicating with each other. Out of the four people in our group, no one had taken an online course that required Collaborative Learning Groups.
