Terrific Tennis Incoming Having the opportunity to play for the Lake Forest tennis team was probably the best experience I could have ever had progressing into high school as a freshman. Meeting so many new freshmen and sophomores who share the same love for tennis was such a great way to make new friends to start out the school year with. Playing tennis with these newly made friends was so much fun, and doing it everyday helped me improve on my game as well. It also helped me build confidence socially. Being able to talk to the four sophomores on the team really helped me establish a good perspective on what the high school was going to be like, and learn that it is not as scary as it is made out to be. Tryouts were the hardest part of the whole process. They started bright and early at eight am and went till eleven. It was so early when you arrived, that it was actually cold outside for the first half hour or so. The first hour was all conditioning which included running a mile, running the bleachers, footwork, core work, and or leg work. Then the next two hours were actual playing time. Both of these things were quite brutal considering we were all doing this under the beaming hot sun, but it helped having a bunch of nice faces cheering you on while doing everything. I arrived each day sore …show more content…
All of the match scores were very close, and so was the overall score. I was playing with my teammate Alisa, and we were playing very well, although the score of our match was always tied, winning, or losing by one point. We eventually made it into a tie breaker which made my heart beat faster than it already was, which I did not think was possible. All of the suspense almost got to the both of us, but we pulled through and won! The good thing about Alisa and I winning our match was that we put our team in position of winning the match as a

June 1, 2014 Windshield Survey Summary and Reflection The windshield survey is a proficient tool in learning about the community. The survey is an excellent tool to gain knowledge of the health needs. It provides an understanding of the people as a whole, and if there are available resources. The survey shows the diversity and vulnerability in the community. A community is an area where a diverse group of people lives and come together. The community is a great place to socialize and help one another. Residents work and interact together in the community. Community health provides education and resources for the health needs of the community. Community health determines the health issues of the community and the best ways to prevent or manage those health issues. When the community becomes the client, the nurse is no longer focusing on an individual and their personal health needs. Instead, the focus is on the health needs of the entire community. Nursing is slowly shifting back to community health care. The public health nurse is able to assist the community in improving their health when they partner together. The “community partnership is a basic focus of such population-centered approaches as Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships” (Stanhope and Lancaster, 2012, p. 402). The participating family lives at the end of a cul-de-sac with the woods directly...

Cordillera Administrative Region

...CORDILLERA ADMINISTRATIVE REGION I. Brief History Many theories have been postulated to account for the origin of the people inhabiting the mountain regions of the Philippines. The Land Bridge Theory claims that the Philippines was part of the Southern Asia Mainland and the Northern Luzon maintain tribes that came through these bridges during the last glacial period between 1200 and 1500 B.C. Contradictory to these assumptions is the Wave Migration Theory, which occurred thousands of years after the disappearance of the land bridges in 3,000-4,000 B.C. The theory states that groups of migrants came by boat from the neighboring lands during the Neolithic period. The Neolithic culture, which they brought with them, is still evident in the rice terraces, cloth weaving and the use of iron implements. Scholars differ in their contentions of the mountain people’s ancestors, however, a prominent number supports the contention that the ancestors of the mountain people came from the South East Asia Mainland. In the process of settling down, the early inhabitants became geographically isolated from one another. The long period of isolation and adaptation to the environment gave rise to variations of culture. When the Spaniards came to the Philippines, they were able to set foot in the Cordilleras as early as 1608 but with minimal influence. They were able to establish commandancias in Benguet, Ifugao and Kalinga-Apayao but their stay did not last long enough to pacify...

...Madagascar, officially the Republic of Madagascar (Malagasy: Repoblikan'i Madagasikara [republiˈkʲan madaɡasˈkʲarə̥]; French: République de Madagascar) and previously known as the Malagasy Republic, is an island country in the Indian Ocean, off the southeastern coast of Africa. The nation comprises the island of Madagascar (the fourth-largest island in the world), as well as numerous smaller peripheral islands. Following the prehistoric breakup of the supercontinent Gondwana, Madagascar split from India around 88 million years ago, allowing native plants and animals to evolve in relative isolation. Consequently, Madagascar is a biodiversity hotspot; over 90 percent of its wildlife is found nowhere else on Earth. The island's diverse ecosystems and unique wildlife are threatened by the encroachment of the rapidly growing human population. Initial human settlement of Madagascar occurred between 350 BCE and 550 CE by Austronesian peoples arriving on outrigger canoes from Borneo. These were joined around 1000 CE by Bantu migrants crossing the Mozambique Channel. Other groups continued to settle on Madagascar over time, each one making lasting contributions to Malagasy cultural life. The Malagasy ethnic group is often divided into eighteen or more sub-groups of which the largest are the Merina of the central highlands. Until the late 18th century, the island of Madagascar was ruled by a fragmented assortment of shifting socio-political alliances. Beginning in the early 19th century...
