When you think of rust, you probably think that it is water mixing metal, but there is way more to it. Chemical reaction and oxidation play an important role for the rust to take place . Acids also are a component in the process of rust. Without any of these components rust could not be possible.
Chemical Reactions involve the exchange of electrons between atoms (2). ¨Chemical Reaction is the process in which one or more substances, the reactants, are converted to one or more different substances, the products¨. Chemical reaction rearranges the constituent atoms of the reactants to create different substances as products. Substance are chemical reactions or either compounds. Only from physical changes, reactions must be distinguished (8). Now you can see how important chemical reaction is to the process of rust. …show more content…
Acids can be found all around us. Some may be more helpful than others and some can be disagreeable. Acids can increase the conductivity of moisture around metal. This makes rust happen more quickly (2). Acids are a group of chemical compounds. They also can dissolve metals (9). How is the strength of acid measured? Solutions of acids contain hydrogen ions. The higher concentration of hydrogen ions, the lower pH levels (4). As steel wool corrodes, it gives off heat (1). We use acids in many ways. Some ways we don't even know about. Bleaches are a type of acid. ¨They get rid of electrons that show color after being hit by a light¨ (3). Vinegar contains a dilute form of acetic acid (2). The highest acid that is used is sodium hydroxide. It has a pH level of 14. The lowest acid that can is used is hydrochloric acid. It has a pH level at 0 (5). Hydrochloric acid is produced in the stomach of most humans. It helps with digestion (9). Even though some acids can be harmful to other thing, while other acids can be very helpful in our everyday

Some believe that hydrothermal vents may have been where life started on earth. These thermophiles that live near the hydrothermal vents do not only have to survive the intense heat in the surrounding areas but the massive pressure from being thousands of meters under sea level.
