Developer- You see the potential in others. Very often, in fact, potential is all you see. In your view no individual is fully formed. On the contrary, each individual is a work in progress, alive with possibilities. And you are drawn toward people for this very reason. When you interact with others, your goal is to help them experience success. You look for ways to challenge them. You devise interesting experiences that can stretch them and help them grow. And all the while you are on the lookout for the signs of growth—a new behavior learned or modified, a slight improvement in a skill, a glimpse of excellence or of “flow” where previously there were only halting steps. For you these small increments—invisible to some—are clear signs of potential being realized. These signs of growth in others are your fuel. They bring you strength and satisfaction. Over time many will seek you out for help and encouragement because on some level they know that your helpfulness is both genuine and fulfilling to you.
Relator- Relator describes your attitude toward your relationships. In simple terms, the Relator theme pulls you toward people you already know. You do not necessarily shy away from meeting new people—in fact, you may have other themes that cause you to enjoy the thrill of turning strangers into friends—but you do derive a great deal of pleasure and strength from being around your close friends. You are comfortable with intimacy. Once the initial connection has been made, you deliberately encourage a deepening of the relationship. You want to understand their feelings, their goals, their fears, and their dreams; and you want them to understand yours. You know that this kind of closeness implies a certain amount of risk—you might be taken advantage of—but you are willing to accept that risk. For you a relationship has value only if it is genuine. Three Strengths

...Three Strengths Essay Everyone has personal strengths that they utilize on the daily basis. In life we encounter experiences that help us identify our strengths as individuals. In the past, I’ve had several job experiences that tested what I believe to be are my greatest strengths. I believe each of these strengths speak to my character and will provide me with boundless opportunities in the future. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to be well-organized at all times. Growing up, I always lived in a very well put together household. Observing my moms need to keep the house spick-and-span, I picked up on her tidy habits. Everything in my room has a place which makes it easy to find something when it is needed. Being organized not only makes things appear nice but it also plays a huge role in productivity. It’s astounding how much more work you can get done when you don’t have to waste time scrambling looking for things. As a watch specialist at Fossil, it was my responsibility to re-merchandise all of the watch displays throughout the store. This entailed me having to pull all the previous seasons’ watches from the floor, separating them by style, counting and comparing them to the inventory list, and finally, restocking the new watches for the current floor-set. While these tasks may not have been complicated, it was extremely time consuming. Luckily, being organized is what helped me to accomplish my assignment in a timely fashion. This particular characteristic...

Strength and Challenges

...Saturday October 25, 2014 Strength and Challenges For starters professor I am excited to be welcomed into your strategies and am truly looking forward to working together. I cannot wait to get a deeper understanding on your philosophy. I am curios to hear and looking forward to classroom lectures. Although I speak of all my positive outlook and hopes I have not stepped into any sort of educational facility since graduating high school. With that being said I am somewhat nervous. I take everything with a grain of salt. I understand this is no simple or easy task. But with my positive outlook and proper support I hope exceed your expectation of me. I really feel that I have the capability to learn a whole lot in this new field. I’m a very hard worker that is something was instilled in me at a very young age. Also when I am committed to something I seem to enjoy or like, I will not turn away from it. I give my all to things that I know in the long run will better my life. I’m a very humble young man and I appreciate every opportunity that is presented and don’t let them slip by. These strengths combined are what will propel me to succeed in this class. Some of the obstacles and challenges that I face in this class a nothing really overwhelming. They are more so objects that I must take a day at a time. Or just things that you learn with practice. As I mentioned earlier, I have never done anything like this before. So I come in raw to ITT. I just hope to learn and hope...

Strength of Materials

...Simple Stresses Simple stresses are expressed as the ratio of the applied force divided by the resisting area or σ = Force / Area. It is the expression of force per unit area to structural members that are subjected to external forces and/or induced forces. Stress is the lead to accurately describe and predict the elastic deformation of a body. Simple stress can be classified as normal stress, shear stress, and bearing stress. Normal stress develops when a force is applied perpendicular to the cross-sectional area of the material. If the force is going to pull the material, the stress is said to be tensile stress and compressive stress develops when the material is being compressed by two opposing forces. Shear stress is developed if the applied force is parallel to the resisting area. Example is the bolt that holds the tension rod in its anchor. Another condition of shearing is when we twist a bar along its longitudinal axis. This type of shearing is called torsion and covered in Chapter 3. Another type of simple stress is the bearing stress, it is the contact pressure between two bodies. Suspension bridges are good example of structures that carry these stresses. The weight of the vehicle is carried by the bridge deck and passes the force to the stringers (vertical cables), which in turn, supported by the main suspension cables. The suspension cables then transferred the force into bridge towers. Normal Stress Stress Stress is the expression of force applied to a unit...

Steel Strength

...Calculations & Specifications Collapse Strength Calculations The following collapse formulae provide the user practical tools to estimate collapse strengths of various types of casing and screen. It is important that one pays particular attention to the material and manufacturing standards for the casing and screen specified so that acceptable tolerances are considered and adequate safety factors applied. Collapse Strength of Steel Casing: Timoshenko's Formula, shown below, is commonly accepted to be the most accurate method available for estimating the collapse strength of steel pipe with diameter/thickness ratios common to those used in the construction of water wells. Where: Pcr = Theoretical collapse strength of a perfectly round tube Where: Pe = Collapse pressure with ellipticity (psi) E = Young's M odulus for Steel (3x107) u = Poisson's Ratio (0.3) Do = Outside diameter of casing (inches) t = Wall thickness (inches) S = Yield strength (mild steel = 35,000 psi) e = ellipticity, frequently assumed as 0.01 Perform Calc ulation Collapse Strength of Shutter Screen: Shutter Screen, sometimes referred to as Louver Screen, actually has a greater collapse strength than casing of the same diameter and wall thickness due to the corrugating effect of the louvers. As a result, shutter screen's collapse strength is up to 60% stronger than the pipe from which it was made. Factors which determine the extent of increased strength include: the thickness/diameter ratio, slot...

VIA Character Strengths

...In order to determine my strengths this week I completed the VIA Survey of Character Strengths. In 1999, Dr. Peterson and Dr. Siegelman collaborated to create the VIA survey to help us with our understanding of psychological strengths. These doctors both had similar hopes, on creating a pathway for positive psychology and dramatically changing the traditional approach to diagnosis and treatment. The VIA survey is used to find virtues, character strengths and situational habits as these are core components agreed upon by Sigelman and Peterson. It has been found through the research and the VIA Institute on Character, which provides access to raw data for use in hundreds of research studies. These studies have provided us with strong evidence...

Strength-Based Assessment

...Strength based assessment is the heart of RT practice to build strengths in the individuals we serve; it is a positive approach to reach and enhance the life of the participant. Strength based assessment is the vital importance for both the therapist and the client, for it is a realistic idea to intervene on the participant’s objectives and needs. The strength based assessment focuses on the internal and external strengths, and on participant’s potential waiting to be developed; also by understanding strengths leads to understand how to plan. Assessment in a Deficits Approach vs. Assessment in a Strengths Approach are both used to give information of the patient, but they have different perception and approach of client’ potential. For example,...

My Strengths Quest

...Strengths Quest Reflection After completing the strengths quest assessment, I learned that my five signature themes consist of: individualization, harmony, relator, empathy, and consistency. This test helped me realize my strengths and weaknesses. In the Signature Themes Report, the individualization theme states that I can draw out the best in a person, which is correct. I always give people the benefit of doubt, or I always try to at least. It also says that this characteristic helps me build productive teams. I pick out who I feel would be best suited to build the strongest team. The second theme that this test chose for me was harmony. It said in the first sentence that if there is little to be gained from conflict then I hold it to a...

Top Five Strengths

...My top five strengths were: 1. Adaptability 2. Harmony 3. Consistency 4. Restorative 5. Relator Adaptability is when people, such as myself, prefer to “go with the flow”. We tend to be “now people who take things as they come and discover the future one day at a time. To me this is a very good strength to have because with this strength I find I can perform will in stressful situations where shifting priorities and changing plans are usually happening. I tend to be a flexible person and not easily flustered by unexpected events or problems. However this strength can also be a negative one because I tend to mentally rehearse what I plan to do in various cases and usually I think the worst case scenarios before they even occur. Majority of the time they don’t even happen like I think. In my daily life this strength prepares me to deal with whatever happens wither good or bad. My second strength is Harmony. Harmony is when you don’t enjoy conflict; rather, you seek areas of agreement. This strength is good because by having this strength it usually helps you think through problems or situations step by step. The bad part to me about this strength is that I tend to be more practical than creative and I myself would...

Strength Finder Analysis

...Strength Finder Paper I could never find the words to delineate my character, so when I found out I was required to take an assessment on Strengths Finder to observe my five top strengths, I was agitated upon the receiving of my results. My top five strengths are: restorative, achiever, developer, positivity, and harmony. All my strengths can be pertained to a situation I once had to overcome when I was sixteen years old. In the fall of my junior year, I lost my grandmother. When I took this quiz, I realized my strengths assisted me to conquer the passing of my grandmother. To begin with, my top strength was restorative. According to the StrengthsFinder assessment, people that have this strength are adept at dealing with problems. They are good at figuring out what is wrong and resolving it. Restorative to me means that I have regard for...

Identifying Strengths In Social Work

...The extensive survey administered by the University of Pennsylvania website was able to identify my strengths based on a series of questions that were answered. My top 5 strengths were 1. Leadership, 2. Gratitude, 3. Social Intelligence, 4. Citizenship, teamwork and loyalty, and lastly 5. Industry, diligence, and perseverance. I felt that a lot of the questions that were asked were slightly repetitive. But it was intriguing to see how they came about our strengths based on those questions. During the survey, I felt that I was able to identify my strengths along that way. For example, it did not serve as a surprise and one of the strengths was teamwork. I can identify strongly with this strength as I know I can work effectively and successfully...

A Women's Guide to Strength Training

...Muscle and Strength Women of all ages can benefit from strength training. The once hesitant attitude women have had has decreased as the rise of women who have experienced the incredible benefits of weight training has increased. Some of these benefits include leaner bodies, definition of muscles, stronger bones, and increased muscle strength and endurance. Weight training helps build stronger muscles by adding resistance to movements to make them more difficult. Because of this resistance, the muscles rebuild themselves bigger and stronger. Having stronger muscles allows women of all ages to do normal, everyday activities with more ease and for longer periods of time. Lifting heavy objects become easier and muscles don’t tire as fast. Posture can also improve with resistance training of the upper body making the muscles of the back stronger. A very real disease women face as the get older is osteoporosis. To help decrease the chances of developing osteoporosis women can strengthen their bones through progressive resistance training. Increased strength levels can help conserve bone mass and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. An increase in muscle mass as a result of strength training can also take stress off our joints. The development of muscle around the joints, such as those at the knee and shoulder, can help absorb shock and decrease the amount of stress put on the joint. In addition to the physical changes that take place as a result of strength training...

Password Strength Is Not Password Security

...Password Strength is not Password Security Kevin Marino November 11, 2013 MSCC697, Regis University Professor Garcia Password Strength is not Password Security When password security becomes the topic of conversation it generally focuses on how strong a password is and whether or not the user reuses a password across multiple sites. While these aspects can affect password security, there are certain measures that the server side of the authentication process can implement to increase security without the user changing their habits. This approach would solve many of the security problems that authentication servers are facing. The goal of this study is to determine a set of best practices that can be implemented to increase security without the intervention of the user. While passwords may not be around forever, due to the introduction of new authentication hardware, they will be around until one of these hardware become mainstream and readily available to the general public. These practices will offer greater security until that time comes. User authentication in today's world generally requires a user name and a password. Though the strength of the user's password is generally seen as the base line for security, the authenticating server can implement certain security measures that can compensate for weak passwords. One main factor for considering different security measures is the advancement of brute force attack techniques...

Personal Narrative: My Strengths

...Now it's time to talk about my strengths that I have obtained over the years starting with planning. One strength I always like to use is to plan events during the day and understand how I'll be able to start them. Over the time, I have known, plans aren’t completed because of unexpected things, however some tasks of my tasks can be continued the next day. Researching information would follow after planning because I don't always have the information I need to start a project. By Researching online and books, it helps me find what I'm missing thus helping me continue my path to completing tasks. Researching online won’t be possible without having any computer skills on the side. Sure, numerous people have used Google, Bing, Yahoo and AOL to...

Strength-Based Case Management Approach

...The strength-based approaches value the capacity, skills, knowledge, connections and potential in individuals and communities. Focusing on their strengths does not mean ignoring challenges, or spinning struggles into strengths. I have learned a lot from this article. It talks about the strengths-base management tool to asses a client’s strength. Strengths-Based Case Management combines a focus on individual's strengths with three other principles: promoting the use of informal supportive networks; offering assertive community involvement by case managers; and emphasizing the relationship between the client and case manager. It is an approach that helps participants achieve specific desired outcomes. One thing, I thought that was very interesting...
